I spend £5 a month on Fuel, £10 a month on gas, £100 a month on licenses and insurance and £50 a month on maintenance and £20 a month on WiFi, water is included in my license ... I live on a narrow boat

Privatisation of the water industry surely has to be the worst of the sectors to be privatised. I would die of shock if I moved to England and feeling very fortunate to be in Scotland!

could you look at applying for a council/local authority property rather than a private rent? Would maybe be cheaper rent??Aww thanks! Good luck to you too. I’m still really undecided as I’m worried if I start renting I won’t be able to buyI have a 4 year old son so I’m just ready for our own space, such a tricky decision

Council tax - £110 (Water included as I’m in Scotland)
Gas and electricity - £80
Food shopping - £200
Sky tv and broadband - £80 (full tv package with an additional box in my bedroom and high speed broadband, but I am on a deal currently and get 60% off)
I live with my partner so you would get the single occupancy benefit with your council tax and food shopping would also be less

Bringing back this told thread as I was wondering do people have water meter or not? I pay £40 for water a month living alone not sure if this is a lot but its nearly doubled within the last year.

I work part time and get some help from tax credits. We still
Manage to go on holiday every year and have some savings. I also run a car. I think as long as you are debt free and good a budgeting it’s absolutely fine.

I just worked out what we pay for rent/council tax/water/electric and internet and it’s around £1225 a month between the 2 of us. That doesn’t include my phone bill which I think is £60 a month. Out of all our bills (excluding council tax) water is the highest which seems mad to me.
On top of that spend around £30-40 a week on food, probably £15 on petrol (we have one car). Then we have Netflix, amazon prime and Spotify - we don’t have sky or virgin TV as we never used it!

Yeah definitely I've picked up enough shifts to hopefully pay for one holiday I'd just need spending money and I have two others planned as well but paying monthly for them so it's around £120 a month for them. But I do try and do less in my time off so I can go on holidays rather than having more days out

My pet food I buy a 10/12kg bag probably 6 months per pet so doesn't seem as much although it's probably about £30 a month for 3 pets. Bit less at the moment as my dogs food is £33 for a big bag that lasts months but I think I'll have to change him soon as he is putting weight on since being neutered.
At the moment I'm also putting away £200 roughly for holidays for next year. Plus around £400 a month for another holiday but I'm not really counting that as it's overtime pay that I'm doing specifically to pay for that holiday. Also around £250-300 on the credit card. Around £250 roughly for food
