she's not interested in her subject, she's not interested in films, telly, literature, music, politics...gosh what does she talk about when she hangs out with her friends?? about food/veganism? i think that's her only interest in life, and the two friends she met in london with...(surprise) have also vegan ig accounts! that's a bit obsessive isn't it?
EDIT: nothing wrong with being vegan, but looks like it's her only way to connect with other people and have stuff in common!

I think Holly just needs to get some kind of job, outside her room and get herself some life and work experience.

It's no good just doing a masters for the sake of it. Such a waste of time and money.

I think this must be a consequence fo her family... they have no books etc in the house, no objects of any kind, and her mum is clearly vegan. I've said it before but there is something sooooo odd about the family

From what I understand a masters doesn't make you any more employable either if you've got no experience to back it up.

Tbh it's like a degree. These days it's all so competitive that if you've not done anything on top of your degree that you can spin into employability, a degree means nothing.

I know we all say she needs to desperately move out of her house, but she also needs to maybe live with other people in a flat! She doesn't even seem to consider anything besides a bachelor flat or living with her sister, which means she will never have the normal experience of needing to adapt to living with other people (family doesn't count). She will never grow if she always lives in her own bubble.

Hollys recent video is basically:

Holly: Yeah I’m so up for socialising and meeting new people

Also Holly: BUT I really need my own space to cook and work and live....I’m an introvert and I really need to recharge.

PAHA sorry she’s literally gonna spend her masters (if she gets in) sitting in her room all day... what a waste
sorry i know this message was three pages ago but i can't stop thinking about it... she's using her 'being introvert' as an excuse for not changing or trying to challenge herself
it's okay to be an introvert, i'm one myself, and i know it's hard to be around other people...but don't use the "recharge social batteries" as an excuse in order to isolate yourself!

I've long stopped watching her videos, as I found the repetitive format very frustrating/boring. It's always: start video with a comment about the camera/lighting/her appearance (usually her hair), time lapses of her tutoring/learning German/cooking, talk about her bland af food choices, and then some mention of her pets (and the way she says the family dogs' names grates on me). That's it.

Her flip-flopping about what she wanted to do in the future was the last straw for me: medicine, then teaching (?!), then nutrition (including her obsession with studying abroad), and now cancer research. I just can't with it all. From someone who's doing a PhD right now: jumping into something for the sake of it, and without knowing what something fully entails is just asking for trouble later down the line. You should only go into MA/MSc/PhD level study if you are pretty certain about the field you are passion about. If you aren't, it's a huge waste of time, money, and energy that only privileged people can 'write off'.

Oh absolutely.

I barely have any qualifications because I hated school but it doesn't mean I'm stupid, I just don't work well in school settings. I've had two professions and I'm not even 30 yet and I'm very proud of that.

I know people who did really well in my year and went on to do great things at university but aren't doing anything spectacular now. Mainly just jobs that they're not passionate about.

I feel like Holly and her parents still have that old fashioned view point that qualifications are be all and end all.

Obviously, if you're doing medicine or nursing, for example, you do but just going for the sake of a master's and PhD, it's a waste of time.

Employers want experience and just having some tutoring experience isn't exactly what I can work experience.

Just my opinion though.

What totally bemuses me about Holly is her meal times. Lunch at roughly 4 a 4.30pm??? and in her last video her dinner was just gone 11pm ( not to mention her lovely Dad and irritating sister were also in the kitchen at that time).

In my world, eating the main meal of the day ( and by no means would I consider Holly’s meal as a ‘main’ meal) is usually on the table by 7 or 8 at the latest.
Personally I don’t like going to bed straight after a meal and I understand we are all different but 11pm.!!!! Come on Holly, if you’re reading this at least normalise your meal times.

Yes!!! And the fact she described it as being ‘a bunch of random stuff’. Nibbling on some corn on the cob and some other bland veggies isn’t dinner!!!!! And at 11:30pm??!! Come onnn

Oh also Holly getting all butt-hurt about people commenting on how repetitive her content is at the moment is hilarious 😭😂 her response is legit just ‘I’m a normal person’, ‘you don’t have to watch every video’...... but like.... you can still try and make interesting content??? Surely you want people to watch every video? To keep people engaged??? Honestly...

That's a lame excuse. I don't really like Molly/BeautySpectrum that much, but go and have a look at her channel. She's put out a whole range of content during lockdown. Even in the 'studytube' sphere, Lydia has been really good at putting out a variety in lockdown. It's a lazy excuse and she knows it. Hollie's Australia content was really good, but since then it's just the same thing every time she uploads.

I can't recall if she mentioned the year group/s she planned to teach, but I can imagine her getting distracted easily and going off on unnecessary tangents constantly if her videos are anything to go by.

That's the first time I've heard a YouTuber discourage people from watching every video they upload. What a great marketing tactic! :ROFLMAO:

People are keep asking her why she doesn't put salt or pepper on her food and commenting about it being an ED thing and she's just replying "I've never done that!". How does she not remember the time she ended up in hospital becuase of her lack of sodium intake? Not saying she needs to go ham with the salt, but a wee sprinkle here and there would do the world of good.

Also where did she talk about repetative content? I need to see her response

Bizarre that someone with an interest in nutrition thinks it's sustainable to eat 90% boiled, bland vegetables and to put that online and for people not to have questions. Lmaoooo
