so weird. They’re all adults!
Seems like there’s a weird family dynamic
Yeh I agree, that vlog was painful to watch.. and the food 🤢 no protein except that (horribly dry looking) pasta at dinner. It’s so clear she has never properly recovered from her Ed

She just behaves so young and like you said, the fact she was so disoriented by not being woken up by her parents is WEIRD

I’ll do some research on that, I’m very curious. In my field if your thesis is below 90% it’s considered very average . Well the truth is students here work on their thesis for a whole semester or even more if it includes experiments and I don’t remember how long it was for Holly.
I would love to learn more about this, maybe it’s a uk thing, maybe not
Woah it's crazy how different the standards are. At my university, a 75% is a distinction and very hard to get, you are unlikely to ever get over 80%. I got 75 for my thesis and that was the top mark in the cohort. It's kinda scary that we all send in our marks for masters degrees and have to compete for the same places with such different marks!😅

Also, does Holly's house have a lounge? I find it really strange that there is no room with couches, table, TV etc where the family just hangs out and relaxes, together or apart.

I don't think that person is in the UK- our system is quite odd with the fact that we use 70 as the boundary for the top marks. I think it's easier in the sciences to get into the top grades than it is in the humanities (at undergraduate level anyway), but as I understand it- getting an 85 at undergraduate means your work is almost publishable.

My husband got 85% in his undergrad dissertation *proud*

But yeah - it's difficult to get over 70 unless work is exceptional. I taught History undergrads last year at a northern red-brick, and had to grade their oral presentations. I was told only to give 70-80 if the work was exceptional.

I wonder is she is a follower of Freelee The Banana Girl... Holly seems to behave very similarly to Freelee, e.g. eating mainly just fruits and vegetables and smoothies with little variation, not washing hair, even the forced Australian accent 😬. And remember in her uni vlogs when she literally had a shelf full of bananas? Then her obsessive exercise could be influenced by Durian Rider's (Freelee's ex) views...

It’s so weird to me to go to such a prestigious uni to then just tutor online? Also it’s word she danced for such a long time yet has 0 muscle?

She's applied for a Cancer MSci at UCL, that's her big masters update

I think cancer actually makes more sense than nutrition. She was always good at the sort of subjects you'd need to study cancer, but I genuinely couldn't trust any nutritional advice she would provide (she evidently hasn't recovered from her ED and the sort of advice she pushes, I really don't agree with). But I hope she feels more settled.

Why doesn’t she take some time off to properly work and decide what she wants to do? There is no rush to do a masters and it is now more accessible via funding, if she got some more experience in particular areas she might decide which route she wants to go down rather than sitting in her bedroom all day

I wonder if her decision to study something else was influenced by her reading this thread .

I was thinking the same thing about her reading threads like these. If they do influence her, she really needs to get off the internet and spend some time really figuring herself out.

I wondered if it was one of her real life people she spoke to who spoke some sense to her and pointed out that doing a nutrition masters when you have a past history of disordered eating maybe isn't smart

I think that studying the cancer MSc will be better for her! I wonder if in the feedback from TUM made her rethink? It's a damn shame that she might not be going abroad, however cancer research has a lot of potential (and funding) for a future PhD!

I feel like she’s actually made a really good decision for herself and her future, it definitely is a much healthier option for her with her ED past, her interest in studying nutrition seemed as though she was more interested in focusing on food, whereas the current option seems more in line with her studies and more her. It’s a shame she’s not going abroad, but in fairness with coronavirus maybe that affected her mindset too?

yeh i agree, plus so many people trainjng as nutritionists/dieticians the market must be saturated

I am really happy for her, can you imagine taking nutritional advice from someone with a BMI well below 18? It would be like going to a morbidly obese personal trainer!

Considering that she chose to do a written dissertation rather than a research based one in her third year, I wonder if she has the necessary laboratory experience that the cancer masters at UCL is looking for.
