one thing that i wonder is, do athletes get checked in case they take performance-enhancing drugs? if not, how do they know if the results are fair? just imagine: someone is doping themselves, they get very good timings, they win several regionals and then they get into elite 15. then what?
There is a Holly White on the London Marathon start list, I wonder if Holly entered it based on her time last year but isn't actually taking up her place or will it be a surprise on the day
That's interesting. Angelo doesn't appear to be on the list. Maybe that's why they haven't chosen their next destination yet. I wonder if Holly is crazy enough to run a marathon in the middle of Hyrox training and competing.
If she doesnt go I am almost certain its because Angelo convinced her not to. This is literally THE GOAL so why wouldnt she go. Ok they planned to potentially be on the other side of the world but who cares. Its not like they have fully committed and also she can just fly for the competition and continue to be on the other side of the world after. There is basically no good reason to say no to this opportunity. But I can think of some jealousy/bitterness related reasons.

Well, surely if you don't know at this stage, you'd probably choose to base it around the opportunity you've just been given? Which is the thing you decided to give your whole job up for in the first place? I'm not an expert, but if brands are going to be scouting Hyrox for sponsorship opportunities and the like, the World Championships seems the most likely place. It seems mental that she's even considering not taking it when this is what she wanted and she's achieved it in record time.
I can guarantee you that the reason she's hesitant is because of Angelo. She feels bad that he hasn't got an invitation and they're not "in it together". If he was a supportive boyfriend, he'd be telling her to go for it. He would go and watch, cheer her on and hope she smashes it. If she doesn't accept, it's going to be very telling, and my opinion of Angelo will go down significantly.

She rebranded awhile ago to encompass more fitness, science, etc. to her brand.
The whole reason for the nomadic lifestyle is Hyrox so this is just an excuse for if Angelo doesn't qualify. Her reasoning literally doesn't make sense.
Is she on the beg for free accommodation or something for the trip? Even if they are basing themselves the other side of the world both from wealthy backgrounds and access to funds to easily afford getting back.
Idk how much they put on the downpayment for that apartment but if Holly doesn't have at least 20k in savings she hasn't been managing her money correctly
I don't believe it's anything to do with getting free accommodation or the like in fairness. If she doesn't do it, I'm convinced the only reason would be because of Angelo. Otherwise, why wouldn't she? This is the whole reason she decided to pursue this, so if she says she turned down the opportunity so she could train in Thailand or something, it would be utterly nonsensical.
I’m not sure if she’s actually looking for advice or just trying to drive engagement. Isn't the whole point of quitting their jobs to eventually compete at an elite level? Plus, there's no guarantee she’ll qualify again next year.

I agree. If she passes up this opportunity just so he can podium, she's an idiot.
She should absolutely do it. This is what quitting their jobs was for. This post is either engagement baiting or because she feels bad for Angelo.

Fingers crossed it's just engagement baiting. I know it's scary to spend such a lot of money on flights but that's what this is all for. It would be crazy self sabotage not to do it. As others have pointed out, she could be injured/ less fit next year, or the playing field might have become more competitive by then.
I am sure she could raise the funds either through asking family very nicely, doing a crowdfunder, or doing some creative kind of short-term drive (eg selling one to one chats with her or something like that). Or maybe she could even hit up Ali and see if she can do a bit of freelance work for him for a few weeks.

She managed to fly to Warsaw for a one off Hyrox. I'm sure she could fly to Stockholm for the World Championships.
I refuse to believe finance would be an issue in any way. If she doesn't, the reason is Angelo, plain and simple. Funny thing is, if the situations were reversed, I'm sure Angelo would that flight booked already.
