Holly Gabrielle #10 Chasing times while Angelo whines

New thread for our wannabe Hyrox superstar and her whingey cringey partner in crime.

Looking forward to seeing how they both do with Pro weights in their next race. The pressure is kinda on Angelo, for him it's a shot at redemption after he fudged his last race with Open weights.

Don't think they've shared what times they're aiming for yet?

To be fair them both, their times and fitness levels are incredibly for your average person. But that step towards elite professional athlete is like the difference between the average person who can sing nicely and an opera singer.
This is exactly it. They're both fitter and would get better times than 99% of the population if they tried a Hyrox because they have the time, are athletic and in good shape. I think that is what has deluded them (Angelo in particular) int thinking they can have a career from this. Taking the step up to competing professionally is a whole different ballgame. It's like I can look fantastic playing Sunday league football on a weekend and be streets ahead of everyone there. Throw me on a professional pitch and I'm getting nowhere close to the ball.

I doubt they'll say their times just in case they don't hit them but I feel it could be an eyeopener.

I think they could make a career out of Hyrox content (although it does seem fairly niche and they can't be purely Hyrox focused) but they both just don't have the genetics/physicality to compete professionally. The pro females are much bulkier and clearly stronger than Holly who looks like a runt in comparison. The pro weights will be a big wake up call for them.

yeah I agree with this! I think fitness content is a good niche to be in, and the premise of what they’re doing is interesting in Hyrox. But I’d love to know what the goal is long term, because ultimately, I don’t know if Elite 15 is doable for them (particularly Angelo tbh). Holly might surprise us (I would like her to).

I don't think it's unique for influencers to quit their job to go "all in" on fitness content - e.g. Anya Culling and Mary McCarthy in running (in fact I would guess that more influencers don't have regular jobs so they can go "all in" vs influencers that have regular jobs alongside their influencing gig - so I don't think this is a particularly unique premise).

I think I mean it's interesting as a path that Holly has chosen. Back in the Cambridge days, I envisioned her going down a more traditional path like research or medicine.

She certainly hasn't made many logical career choices in the intervening years, but it's interesting to me that people make choices like that (as someone in one of the career paths I thought she might go down).

I would see it more as floundering than making choices. And possibly influenced by Angelo (although if it was, that looks like a bad bet on his part...)

She honestly looks quite odd in her latest Hyrox Holly reel. Desperately needs a haircut and weird choice of thumbnail.

Is she actually joking about not training for Farmer’s Carry? Like how can you be trying to be elite and not practice one of the stations?!

Another failed hyrox sim… they’re delusional. Also surely these gloves are “cheating” as it’s adding extra grip?

Apparently it's allowed, but gains are marginal because of the heat build up and presumably.... sweat?? (Hello, Angelo!)

I swear, I've learned more about Hyrox than I have ever wanted to because of these two

Excuse me?

2 to 3 years? They have no real source of income and their channel only has around 1k subscribers after a few months. I've seen no indication that they're going to become influencers.

Holly must have earned A LOT from her YouTube days and have it saved up or their families are really helping them out because how on earth are they going to survive financially for three years? And if they don't make it? What then? I'm at a complete loss now.

2-3 years… surely they could have done this alongside traditional work and annual leave. Like I know training for things varies but this just seems stupid

On a positive note, at least he acknowledges (somewhat) that she is a stronger performer

I found it more of a back handed compliment. He didnt really need to mention the womens division and the mens.

Holly worked hard and has the drive to get where she is at the moment.

I wonder if they have some kind of madcap plan to sell their apartment. Really hope not for both of their sakes (although it would mean that they're not locked into it/can go their separate ways if necessary).

Separately, 2 - 3 years of them starting every YouTube video with "we quit our jobs to go all in on Hyrox" is a lonnnng time...

Also a long time for somebody to be unemployed, which they basically are.

I was thinking about this too ("we quit our jobs to go all in..."). I get it at this stage, personal branding etc etc. But they need to change up the script a little. It's month 3/4 of this and I could use a bit of excitement

No offence to anyone who participates in Hyrox here, but, I keep seeing the wall ball segment and thinking this feels like a made up game someone invented in their garden 😅 Like triathlon I can understand, it has the 3 distinct disciplines whereas Hyrox is like run 1k then carry some weights then tap a ball against the wall many times then run a 1k then ski then push a sled. Don't get me started on watching the participants do burpeees with varying success. I get that it is endurance etc but it looks like it's a money spin. Just my impression. It seems to be everywhere on my feeds. A friend of a friend seems to be obsessed with training for it too, though he does work full time but now his weekends seem to involve being on the gym and not with his kids or wife 😬

But, this is the most interesting Holly has been to me in years so here I am 🍿

I don't like Angelo, I get sour grapes vibes, bet he's miserable.
