She did THREE MINUTES sixteen seconds WORSE at Worlds!
That’s a huge time gap to blame on her period!

Yeah Im not buying the period thing at all. I think Angelo is trying to compete with Holly, and Holly knew that if she podiumed at worlds that would be the end of their relationship.View attachment 4040959
Does anyone else think that Holly comes across as totally naive and moany in this post? She’s telling herself the most basic thing that athletes learn- you can only control what you can control…. Like DUH?? As soon as she doesn’t perform to her own exacting standards she’s spouting the most basic sports-science mentality approaches.
I didn’t personally think Holly was ‘fighting’ with being on day 1 of her period so to speak?? She realised that she might be starting her period, and she performed below standard…. That’s a reason, and that’s that. She’s reading into it way too much in my opinion. She needs to learn to take action and learn to push through rather than wallowing over things in her head so much. It’s not something to keep harping on about because most female athletes get their period? Yeah it’s something extra to deal with but it’s totally normal. It’s defos still a novelty or a big thing to Holly because she spent so long without it, so she’s functioning with a 15 year old mentality surrounding it all tbh.
she has so much capability but just feels like she has the wrong way of fixating on the negatives on literally every single race. She thrives of a fear of failure and that’s what gets her to perform so well. Perfectionism to a T- eh? Unfortunately this won’t work for sports, and she’s being hit with this reality pretty strongly. If she doesn’t get her perfectionism and need for complete control under control (hah) then she’ll not perform as well as she could. Literally everything in that post is her talking negatively to herself which is actually sort of heartbreaking to see tbh.
I really don't think it's as simple as this though. If I was them, I would take a step back, try to get jobs, get back in their apartment, then build Hyrox around this (if they still want to).
Agreed - I meant as more gradual steps back towards normality (I'm not sure if they said how long the lease on the apartment is, but presumably a standard term like six months; a year, etc.).I really don't think it's as simple as this though.
They've rented out their apartment so would have to serve a s8 notice, which can take months, especially if it's contested. And on the job front, they're both (Holly particularly) unemployable.
Holly has never had a traditional job in her life and she won't be able to go into anything related to her degree or Master's because she's been out of the field for five years and has zero experience. She's never going to go into an office job as she'll both feel it's beneath her or unfulfilling, and she doesn't have any "goals" to reach when she's just a name in a company. Perhaps she could work for Ali again, but that seems unlikely.
Angelo might have more luck given he was working a corporate job roughly six months ago, but Holly? She'll have to settle for something "lesser", which she will not do.
They are doing double workouts. They workout to their max capacity in the morning and again in the evening.I wonder what they do at night time
So many things wrong with this. Why would testing week be after worlds and not before? Why would she get her iron tested six months into this and not before she decided to quit her job? She's always brushing viewers' comments off and saying she knows her body but clearly she doesnt if she didnt get a full blood panel before trying to launch a fitness career. If they cut down their workouts to one session a day no longer than 2 hours and one rest day a week they would likely see faster improvement.
Overtraining also risks an injury that stops them participating altogether! They need to build in significant recovery time. They are doing double workouts. They workout to their max capacity in the morning and again in the evening.

Yeh I don't know anyone in an office nob that does 9-5, I've never done less than 9-6. She night be able to find something but the job market now is horrendous, her quitting as she did was such a ridiculous thing to do in every senseAgreed - I meant as more gradual steps back towards normality (I'm not sure if they said how long the lease on the apartment is, but presumably a standard term like six months; a year, etc.).
I'm genuinely unsure what Holly would/will do for work - she may be unemployable in a conventional job, but she might be able to find something equivalent to the Ali Abdaal job to tide her over and start rebuilding. You could see she benefitted from having routine and structure from the way she kept referring to having a "9-5 job" when she was working for Ali (I don't think she understands that in some professions people work considerably longer hours, but equally I don't think she would stand the remotest chance of getting a job like that).
Angelo may be able to keep going with Hyrox for longer (or at least he may want to) but I don't think he would face the same difficulty in finding another job that Holly will - corporate IT has huge turnover and I think he would be able to slot back in (I know people who have been unemployed for far longer and taking six months to a year off to pursue something else isn't totally uncommon nowadays).
She 100% hasn't. Excessive exercise to gain back control and restricting via bland vegan food is classic ED symptoms tbh. This is why I don’t believe she’s recovered from any form of ED, excessive exercise and the bland vegan food all adds to this and angelo’s the same. They’re not good for each other.
a sensible person would schedule breaks even just a few days to recover and allow you to build on the base you’ve started… but not these two
I think becoming vegan is pretty common for people to hide EDs when they haven't recovered tbh, I know people who've done the sameDon’t know how Holly doesn’t realise that her going vegan was detrimental to her recovery, personally I mean. I’m not saying that people who are vegan have eating disorders or can’t recover from them, but rather that for Holly specifically it was the worst thing she could have done.
already obsessive about exercise and dancing, she adopted veganism as a way to gain back the control she had lost when people started telling her she had to eat more or she wouldn’t survive. She thought…. How can I still control this while also eating some more, but by being ‘healthy’? She went through ‘recovery’ (if that’s what you could call it) with her family being her only support. Her family who, in my opinion, were (and still are) not equipped to help her through this alone. Her mother, with a background in dance and an equal dedication/obsession with eating healthy (or so it comes across online), should not have ever been the primary person overseeing Hollys initial recovery. She never went to a therapist or a doctor long term, and essentially branded herself as ‘self recovered’. We all know where that’s lead her now.
if Holly wants to succeed at this Hyrox venture, or any future sport, she needs to reconnect with her 12-18 year old self and really resolve the issues which is probably where all of her disordered behaviours are rooted. If she doesn’t get proper mental health advice and start leaning on professionals and not just her boyfriend and immediate family, she’d be flying.
Also, I strongly doubt she actually ate all that for dinner. When you restrict yourself throughout the day (which she absolutely is because they're doing double workouts at max capacity and that amount a food cannot sustain that kind of training), it gets harder to eat large meals even if you need more food. The fact that she got it all in one photo means that it was all prepared around the same time. I'm willing to bet she ate the cereal and maybe the fruit because the cereal will get soggy and the rest was just for show.
I'm no expert but this full day of eating from this post looks very lacking in appropriate nutrients.
She has no protein at all until 1pm - and by this point she's already done 2 workouts and one bike commute. The lunch contains a BIT of protein from the edamame and lentil chips but barely enough.
We have a ton of ultra-processed foods - nutrition bars, gels, flavoured lentil chips and crumpets (anything "pizza flavoured" that is "accidentally vegan" is going to be incredibly processed), protein yoghurt, sugary cereal and fake-meat sausages.
I was expecting the dinner to at least have a decent amount of protein but it's almost entirely fibre. Two measly pots of pistachios, a protein yoghurt and some veggie sausages doesn't really cut the mustard after a day of 5 (5!!!!) workouts and barely any protein in the other meals.
She's gonna absolutely destroy her body in no time if she carries on like this.
