So they're doing Hyrox Istanbul in 4 weeks time.

I think this has to be the critical race for Angelo in particular. They'll have been doing this full time for seven months by August, so if Angelo underperforms again, that has to be a reality check for them. I mean, it gets to a point, right? Surely they can't persist with something that is unattainable and this seems a solid point to reassess.

I think Angelo does have a drive to succeed - it seems more like an ability gap for him; his Hyrox results have been dire, the outcome of the physiological testing was pretty dire and he just looks wrong/ungainly when trying to do the various exercises.

Superficially it might look like Holly is trying to placate him, but when you look at his Instragram content it's always strewn with typos and basic errors (when not AI generated). Unless she has forgotten how to perform basic academic tasks, there's no way she's not spotting that - but she doesn't seem to be helping, and sharing his random lists of tips on Instagram (and the Youtube) are the only platforms he has. So I wonder just how hard she is really working on that.

I think she’ll go into coaching, and set up some sort of Hyrox coaching/plan business
I could of sworn she put out feelers on linkedin for hyrox coaching before they ever made a seperate channel. I think Holly may have come to the conclusion that no one would be delusional enough to go to her for coaching if she never competed herself.

I can totally see her at some point trying to "win" at motherhood. Transferring all her neuroses, hopes and dreams onto a child, like her mum did to her.
I sincerely hope Holly doesn't have children without spending at least a couple years in therapy

On this, I was thinking about the Australia vlogs the other day. While I completely acknowledge that people grow up and develop, the regression from those vlogs to now is stark. I honestly think, while not something everyone has the resources to do, she would benefit from a solo trip away from Angelo. I think she's sort of lost everything that was just hers, like you said
I think the best version of Holly was undoubtedly when she was travelling Europe and met Dan and Charlie.

She wasn't as rigid, stepped out of her comfort zoner a lot more, and generally seemed to be happy and healthy. I remember her visiting a football stadium with them, which is probably the last thing she wanted to do, but she ditched her routines and did it. I'm not saying you have to drink to have fun, but Holly was more willing to embrace loosening up and not overly focusing on productivity.

I know Charlie was only a brief fling, but he was better for Holly because they had quite a few differences. Angelo is almost the male version of Holly in the sense that he is obsessed with food, exercise and routines, which means she's unable to escape from them. There's also a strong element of co-dependency there, which I don't feel would have been the case with Charlie.

I believe back in the day Holly shared her veganism is rooted in feelings towards animal cruelty and I highly doubt she would ever stop being vegan, especially as she has experiences with eating disorders. The clear issue they explicitly showed was their over-training. Their running alone is destroying their timings for the stations, so they really should stop running as much. I'm not sure why they haven't done this, unless they've said why somewhere I missed.

Same here. Easier to live in denial as an 18 y.o online and say you’re doing it for animal cruelty reasons without being honest with yourself that it’s a way to limit the amount of food options you have. I can believe she may have partly done it because she cares about animals but 10000% was done at the time to get her to start actually eating something, even if it was just blended banana topped with chopped banana. Hilarious to find out now that Holly doesn’t even like bananas which I think is why I’ll take everything she said back in 2016 with a pinch of salt.
What! I didn't know she didn't like bananas, remember the merch she had! That's so odd

I think they could make a career out of Hyrox content (although it does seem fairly niche and they can't be purely Hyrox focused) but they both just don't have the genetics/physicality to compete professionally. The pro females are much bulkier and clearly stronger than Holly who looks like a runt in comparison. The pro weights will be a big wake up call for them.

Fingers crossed it's just engagement baiting. I know it's scary to spend such a lot of money on flights but that's what this is all for. It would be crazy self sabotage not to do it. As others have pointed out, she could be injured/ less fit next year, or the playing field might have become more competitive by then.

I am sure she could raise the funds either through asking family very nicely, doing a crowdfunder, or doing some creative kind of short-term drive (eg selling one to one chats with her or something like that). Or maybe she could even hit up Ali and see if she can do a bit of freelance work for him for a few weeks.

She should absolutely do it. This is what quitting their jobs was for. This post is either engagement baiting or because she feels bad for Angelo.

If it was the other way round, they'd be going.

I just watched their new video of Holly’s race (which surprisingly I liked??) and it seems they’ll be announcing a sponsor soon. Even though Holly does grind my gears, it’s become less so recently. I’m happy that she’s found something to do other than sit in her room all day writing YouTube scripts or whatever it was that she was doing.

One thing I have wondered about them is what happens if (god forbid) one of them suffers a serious or even career ending injury? Based on what we see, all they seem to have in common is exercise and restrictive eating. If one of them could no longer partake, what happens to the relationship? I honestly don't know how they'd spend their time as I can't imagine the other would be happy just cheering from the sidelines.

I know we only see a tiny snapshot of their lives and they may have more in common than we think, but as a viewer, their exercise addiction appears to be the only thing keeping them together.

I’m not sure if she’s actually looking for advice or just trying to drive engagement. Isn't the whole point of quitting their jobs to eventually compete at an elite level? Plus, there's no guarantee she’ll qualify again next year.

The men’s field is already highly competitive, and the women’s field is likely to follow suit.

I believe their plan was to head to India or Indonesia so Angelo could aim for a podium finish

also, if she’s really doing 26.5 hours a week, in my mind, this is equivalent to standard part time job hours and she could really (if she tried super hard and put her mind to it as she does most things) could fit this in around a 35 hour full time work schedule. I know London doesn’t do 35 hours a week as standard but she could definitely be doing another part time editing/writing gig on the side of this if she really felt like money was tight. Evidently it’s not. Yeah she edits her and angelos videos but surely between the two of them they could really be working alongside this.
she was actually working part-time job for ali abdaal when she resigned!! that's why i don't understand why she didn't keep her job alongside this hyrox journey

Almost every professional athlete in the Olympics for example has another job don't they? I actually cannot work put what she's doing or planning to do long term it's just bizarre
She's retired as an athlete now, but a girl I went to school with was doing her teaching training at university and working on her family farm while she was competing. She ended up retiring after she was in the winter Olympics and is now a teacher. Another girl I went to school with was quite high up in squash and ironmans. She retired from that and she's doing a PhD and she works in nutrition for athletes, and does nutrition workshops in schools and for sports teams whist doing the odd marathon.

The thing is with Holly is I do wonder what she is going to try and do after she's reached a certain point in hydrox. I saw she's been sponsored by an energy gel company so I'm assuming she's going to be promoting products as an 'athlete.' I could see her going into coaching of some sort and I do fear that it would be nutrition coaching as well , especially as there would be people seaking out vegan athlete coaching, but she would be the person who is least suitable for that.

This feels incredibly relevant... That full day of eating homegirl posted ytd had 0 fat now I think of it - meaning she can't absorb the vits and minerals from her veggies either.

Holly's already discussed some of these symptoms - fatigue, training plateaus, declining performance over time. I'm actually worried atp.

Im confused. On the hyrox website it says they basically got the same total time this time.
They have a similar total time but they don't compete in the same categories and the weights are adjusted for the women to be lower. I wouldn't directly compare their times with each other but how they do in their respective categories (and she greatly outperforms him).
