I donated my eggs 12 years ago and I was randomly thinking about it the other day and idly wondering if they (twins) might look me up on the database when they’re of age.
Has anyone donated their eggs and then the child has got in touch when they reach 16/18? What was it like?
When I made the decision to do it I knew they had the right to contact me; you are asked to write a letter to them that is stored in the system so they can read it if they want to (was a proper head duck composing a letter to an unborn child you might never meet I tell thee
).But the reality is a bit weird!
They might not even know they originated from a donated egg as parents aren’t obliged to tell them. And I suppose if I’m honest that bothers me a little. I don’t think I mind if they make contact or not tbh, but I’m a control freak and it irritates me that I might never know.
