I think Hazno, as most of all the people in the public eye, would love for the press to report only what they want them to report in the tone that they want it them to report. It is a natural instinct. What Hazno lack of brains doesn't allow him to understand is that that thought is a dictatorial one and one that opposes the basic principles of a democracy. So, most famous, influent people want exactly what Hazno wants, but are wise enough to keep shut about it and understand the importance of a free thinking press - even if an incompetent one.Sorry if this has already been said. Still catching up on the threads.
So Harry doesn’t want a free UK press. So who/what then controls what the press prints and decides what is acceptable to print and what isn’t? Can’t be the UK government because surely then it ceases to be press and more of a propaganda machine. Same problem with a ruling body. I don’t have an issue with people wanting change but I do have an issue when it comes without a considered and practical solution. Harry has made it clear what he doesn’t want but he hasn’t (as far as I’m aware) come up with a plan to implement what he thinks should happen instead. So many times I hear people say they don’t want this or don’t want that. Well yeah that’s fine but what do you intend to replace it with? How do you intend to move forward? I know I’m asking for the impossible. We all know the ginger one doesn’t think further than the end of his nose.
I just found it in the Guardian as well. Seems like the amount put aside by the very well-funded TPT for compensation was miniscule and inadequate (just over £1.2 million), considering the scale of what is reported to have gone on and the amounts the court considered reasonable.I take your point, but don't believe that KC was in the dark. From the Independent article, negotiations about compensation have been going on since 2018 and he must have known that the High Court had ruled that The Prince's Trust, his Trust, should pay each survivor £240,000, in November 2022 .
Six months later the survivors were told they'd be paid 1%. It was The Prince's Trust that put Fairbridge Restored into receivership and gave Administrators Grant Thornton LLP the job of paying the compensation. If KC was not directing the administrators and didn't suggest one percent, who did?
As you say, we'll see and hope he does the right thing. I think with this awful publicity he'll have no choice. But it is on record now that TPT offered the victims one percent.
Interesting that this report was only in the Independent, and but for them we'd have had no idea.
Well this could blow up into a major scandal if Charles doesn't find a way to come up with some decent compensation for these people.I just found it in the Guardian as well. King Charles urged to intervene over ‘insulting’ child sexual abuse payments
Exclusive: Surviving victims of ‘farm school’ abuse will only receive £2,000 each from Prince’s Trust, which took over liabilities of Fairbridge Societywww.theguardian.com
If its sunny and hot, I'm inside, hiding. I'm with you on summer, vastly over rated in my opinion.I don't like Saturday's, I'm at work and it's quiet on here, the sun is out so everyone is down the beach, I hate the summer like most people hate the winter. I find the summer depressing like reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder, I've been told it's a thing but I think I'm in a minority.
Anyway my point is don't go and sunbathe stay on Tattle and keep me company please.
Love your avatarIf its sunny and hot, I'm inside, hiding. I'm with you on summer, vastly over rated in my opinion.
I'll happily join you in the minority.
"Only in 2018 these findings were exposed"Giving you what I read from EmilieHRH (a young, sometimes petulant, well informed journalist on Instagram):
- Fairbridge society has been accused of enabling the sexual abuse of 277 children;
- In 2012 Charles absorbed this charity, only in 2018 these findings were exposed;
- In 2018, Charles pledged to pay compensation to all victims and established a Fairbridge restored company;
- In November 2022, the High Court determined a reasonable amount to each victim to be 204.000 pounds;
- Charles charity told victims they would only pay 1% of that.
This is murky for several reasons:
1. All crimes were prior to KC3 absorbing the Charity;
2. But why go public and say he would pay for all compensation? PR clout?
3. I get that it is a lot of money, as we are amounting to 56.5M in compensation. But given that we know how easily KC3 has been working the Russian, Qatar, and others for charity money, I would expect he could be more generous towards the victims;
4. In the end, he was not in charge, however he does come across as opportunistic for PR reasons.
Then again, this is her side of the story, haven't read it anywhere else yet - which is strange in itself.
By the sounds of it many of the trafficked children might be dead by now seeing as it happened years ago. There's no excuse for not paying out to the elderly ones who are still alive though.From the original Independent article, the crimes date back to the 1930's and were known to both the Government and the Charity Fairbridge Society itself. In 1956 one farm school was blacklisted by the UK Home Office.
As you say, we only have this article to go on.
"In 2018, Britain’s Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) found both the UK Government and Fairbridge were aware of abuse at farm schools in Australia as early as the 1930s."
The repulsive 'Sir' Phil pops up in the DM regularly, pictured on his luxury yacht at some jet set destination around the world. Don't suppose he gives a toss about his reputation, he's got enough money to not bother. Which is a shame for all the former staff he left high and dry.I remember the Philip Green saga. His reputation never recovered and it impacted on his family badly. When dealing with this sort of thing, like Green's empire or on a smaller scale the Middletons, the finances always take precedence don't they. Even clever Green, and here canny Carole, don't seem to think things through that reputation is far more valuable than money and once lost can never be recovered.
Whatever the technicalities of company laws and obligations, the decision was made that money came before creditors - that is the perception with both Green and Carole, and that's how it will stay.
If the amount put aside is correct, it's roughly the same as the amount paid out to Camilla's sister for interior decorating.Well this could blow up into a major scandal if Charles doesn't find a way to come up with some decent compensation for these people.
Maybe Party Pieces were waiting for suppliers to pay them?You are absolutely right, but it's not a good look for the mother of our future Queen and she should have avoided this at all costs. Honourably go bust, put your hands up and say Yes we had a great run but COVID etc. It happens. Sorry folks, but we're going to make sure all our small creditors are paid. And do it. They'd have set a great example of honesty and enhanced their reputation.
Instead, huge COVID and HMRC debts the former which would never have accrued for Joe Public. Small traders out of pocket possibly with their livelihoods at risk? The Middletons are very wealthy and have remained wealthy after this collapse.
Like the surrogacy if it had been the case. Be honest and the public will be with you.
Each time I see her name it registers as "royal knicker" in my head!BIB
In retrospect, I think Carole made a PR mistake attending the Jordanian Royal Wedding, in view of what she probably knew was coming. (I noticed that Michael didn't go, which IMO was a wise decision.)
Even if they were invited as a courtesy due to their previous ties to Jordan, it now looks a bit self-indulgent, elitist and something that would rile the creditors.
Should maybe have sat it out, and let Pippa and James go alone.
Hopefully she'll stay out of the Royal Box at Wimbledon this year.
Can't help having a Royal daughter, but can control other stuff.
JMO
And a good piece by Roya, if anyone can archive it.
It won't end until Hazza's stripped of ALL his Royal connections if he wants to carry on down this path. Dad merely expressing his "frustration" isn't going to cut it much longer.
I haven't - was only aware of the thing via EmilieHRH. Will read the articles that Tattlers have been sharing."Only in 2018 these findings were exposed"

Seems it was going on for a long time but covered up.
