I think we’re all so used to how convoluted line of duty was, we expect the same again.

The way LoD spiralled off into ridiculous conspiracies and action scenes has done TV writing no favours as it appears that audiences are now expecting silly, jaw-dropping twists in everything. 😕

Agree. This is about beautifully drawn, layered, real characters. That’s where its genius is. Doesn’t need gimmicks.

I was recommended White Lotus but only got to episode 3 of the first series. Just couldn’t get into it. Am I missing something?
Yes you are !
I preferred S1 to S2 just be a smidge. I now want to go to Hawaii SO BADLY !

Last time the Knezevics offed someone they affiliated with, they made it look like suicide. I wonder if that’s what they’ll do to TLR or whether they’ll consider it

I think Clare and Catherine will reconcile tbh.

There is a bit of a “one last shift before I retire [dies tragically]” trope in crime dramas. It’s teasing that a lot I feel but I just can’t imagine them killing Catherine off, though I’ll bet it was one of the 4/5 possible endings they came up with

I think it would be a good ending if TLR’s downfall is himself almost a poetic justice!

I hadn't seen any Happy Valley last week at this time, I've binged it all. I decided not to watch last Sunday episode - so I can watch both at the same time on iplayer.
I'm really hoping the happy I'm Happy Valley means that Catherine will get some sort of happily ever after (I can hope).
I've always loved Sarah Lancashire, but Oh my goodness after seeing HV she is such a talent, she is outstanding IMO.

To other Happy Valley fans what else would you recommend to watch? I've seen Line of Duty, just need something to fill the void of knowing that's it for HV lol x

Just been watching some of Series 1 again (3 episodes so far) - good reminder of what a nasty, vicious psychopath Tommy is. The scene with the young police woman is truly shocking even though I've seen it before but it was years ago. Makes me hope he gets comeuppance even more, the sick b*stard. Catherine has to find her peace.

TLR in that blue hoody 😍 he’s either going to die in that hoody or murder in it. 5 more sleeps….

Well il be honest I thought it was really bizzare at first and I was shocked at the pen scene! Lol! But I kept with it and I found it so addictive! But the second season is much better imo, and worth keeping with the first season. Although to be fair, you don't really need to watch the 1st one really to get the gist of the 2nd.

I'm going to miss Happy Valley so much. The script is absolutely fantastic amd so is the acting. Il be so upset on Sunday!

Broadchurch & Unforgotten scratch a different itch and aren’t anywhere near as funny but they are good British police dramas! I liked the bbc adaptation of And Then There Were None (2015) too, and Lupin which is on Netflix. Luther was good but a bit grim! None of them are as good as hv imo but they’re all worth a watch
