I thought it was to show Richard he knew who he was. As Richard told Catherine he gave darius a false name, but darius used his real name in the message. So knew exactly who he was.

I agree and thought it was obvious Ryan was trying to find out where he is and his plans. He’s clearly on Catherine’s side after finding out she wanted to keep him hence him telling her he loved her. He’ll be setting TLR up.
