I think Hannah protects his privacy better than a lot of others, I remember when talking about her birth story she mentioned Rowan having some extra care in hospital but didn't talk about it because it's his health stuff and not hers (words to that effect). I guess everyone is different when it comes to boundaries and sharing milestone moments. It does seem exploitative when influencers use their children for ADs, regardless of whether or not their face is shown. The emoji thing is a weird one, most of the time it would be better to not upload the photo at all, especially if it's a selfie or a photo just of someone holding the kid.
I think Hannah does it better than most - Melanie is definitely a hypocritical one in how she won't share names or faces (but gives the children weird online nicknames) but then will share photos of herself in the bath with her children or naked with her boobs out breastfeeding. But I've also seen the other end of spectrum like The Anna Edit where you wouldn't know she had a child at all sometimes from her videos and sometimes that gives an even weirder vibe. I think it's still a really grey area in many ways in what's best and what's not, I don't envy them having to do it tbh.

This is off topic but just seen her post about the newsletter talking about keeping Rowan’s face offline and I will read this and am open to having my mind changed but is it only me that finds it kinda hypocritical that influencers (also Melanie) make a huge point of keeping their kids private but then use them for sponsorship deals and also keep sharing about when they are fed, what they are doing, life stages, big milestones etc etc
I don’t care about seeing your toddlers face but that’s not keeping them offline and private in my opinion🤷‍♀️
100% lots of influencers think putting an emoji over the kids face protects them when realistically the child will look like something like the parents so not much of a mystery

I’ve always found the emoji over the child’s face thing very virtue signal-y, when used by influencers. If you don't want to post pictures of your child's face, great! But then just don't post photos featuring them at all, rather than a normal picture of them but with a emoji over their face?

I kind of feel like the emoji is worse in a way, like they claim they want to protect the child but will still profit of their existence

Influencers who post their kids with emojis over their face drive me crazy. Either share the photo or don’t, because putting an emoji over their face is just going encourage people to continue asking why their face is covered, drive up engagement, getting more traffic because “oooh mystery photo of their child” and then they’re still being used for content. I don’t care either way, but don’t pretend you’re protecting their privacy by doing this.

not necessarily. I don't look anything like either of my parents and the same goes for quite a few people i have met over the years

I hate the emoji thing as it's so performative.

You're still using your child for content, it doesn't matter you're not showing their face. Every mum, dad, nanny, etc at the school gate will know which one is yours and if you think parents thoughts and opinions don't rub off on their kids you're an idiot.

I don't fully know how I feel about the whole thing to be honest because she's so public with the sex stuff in general it puts kids in an awkward position but I equally don't think people should stop discussing anything slightly personal once they do have a child.

Either way the emoji does duck all, just don't post photos with your kid in.

The emoji thing doesn't work if you are using the kid in adverts and monetising them. Yes, it keeps privacy as they do not consent to being online but then you'll use the back of their head or video shots of their feet/hands in order to advertise a sponsor or sell something. The child has not consented to being in that advert either so if you cover their face and use them to earn money it'd hypocritical IMO (speaking to you Melanie Murphy if you're reading as she is the worst for this performative "privacy" of her kids).

People who show their kids faces or put them in acting young that's the parents choice, but if you believe the child shouldn't be seen without informed consent then don't show them at all.

The subreddit she mentioned in her q&a is SO gross. I actually feel really bad for Hannah and I'm kind of impressed by how brave she is.
Men once again proving they cannot be trusted to consider women as people.

The comments on it are vile - good on her for calling it out! Although I see that the subreddit has now gone private, which means members can post but members of the public can't see 🤢

Just looked out of curiosity, looks like it's been removed? I don't have a reddit account. Disturbing that the main picture is a pregnancy bump shot, what's the matter with people?!

Don't know why I'm anonymising these creeps- but examples of some of the comments (screenshotted last night becuase I thought they might get deleted):

The worst photo and comments I saw was someone who'd photoshopped the image of her boob cast to be her flesh colour

Forgot about her then her recent selfie popped up and she looked awful - so ill with massive dark circles around her eyes. Why are all her yes men telling her she looks great?!

Ummm, she breastfeeds, has a one-year-old, a chronic illness… it’s the year 2023 and all you‘ve got is shaming another woman for her dark cyrcles?
I mean, you can just unfollow her again, if she doesn’t reach your beauty standards and is too weird for you to look at.

It’s interesting that she doesn’t wear make up in the aspect of that she stands out. When she went to an awards night she mentioned feeling a self conscious about not having it on because everyone else did. It’s like we’re not used to seeing a normal woman’s face in the media/social media.

I hated my face without makeup until lockdown and then I realised it’s not that I hated my face, I was just not used to seeing it bare

There's coming on tattle to moan about influncers and then there is coming on tattle to pick apart the appearance of a women who has a well documented chronic illness.
