Thanks for that.I, thankfully, managed to turn them off when the test alert was sent out last year, I've got a Google pixel, but it should be on your settings somewhere. I was just getting my son to sleep and wouldn't have been happy with that racket going off just as he finally nodded offView attachment 4089466

To be fair, it is absolutely mental atm with all the fires. I understand them trying to get a warning out. Woke me up mid sofa nap though

I was driving along and thought it was a bloody warning alarm for the car engine even though there were no warning lights
Even pulled over to let the car cool down before I checked my phone.
I don't mind the gov warnings tbh - they happen so rarely.

It's pretty pointless without the alarm, isn't it

The alarm was so loud and overstimulating I closed the message without getting time to read it just to turn it off 
While I didn’t appreciate the near heart attack when it first went off, I am reassured that I actually received the alert when everyone else did. When they’ve done the tests before I either didn’t get it, or it was two weeks late!!
Not sure I needed the message repeated about 8-10 times though… where I live the scent of the New Forest fire is currently a pretty constant reminder that things are dire atm.

Emergency alerts are proven to be effective provided they are clear and concise, which I thought it was. Hopefully makes the knuckle draggers think twice before starting yet more fires.

I feel the alert is kind of necessary given the amount of Wildfires at the moment... Having recently been to one of the affected areas, I have seen how it's affected the community.
What I don't agree with is how awfully it was rolled out, like the language barriers in Wales and how that caused panic, it was really badly executed. The delay between messages and the panic it caused is totally unacceptable.
Of all the things we can do with technology these days and the Govt. can't send out an alert in a timely manner and in languages that people are able to read.
Even on the Gov Website, if you clicked on English it showed Welsh.... Absolute disgrace.
