Government wildfires alert

I was just reading an article in the Daily Fail, about wildfires. All of a sudden this loud noise appeared on my phone, followed by a message. I took a screen shot.

Bloody annoying and intrusive.

I don’t think you can disable the emergency alerts. It’d be nice if you could quiet them down at least.

Thing is the majority of people aren’t daft enough to go doing those things they are warning us about. The ones they are trying to stop aren’t bothered by an alert.

We had it twice per phone in Wales, the first in Welsh and no bloody clue what it was saying

In the car in England with 4 other people. Each of our phones went off between 2 and 5 times, even after reading and clearing the messages.

I don’t think “don’t light disposable barbecues” is a justifiable use of the warning system - especially if they can’t make it work sensibly.

Hello. You are able to disable Government Alerts via settings on both Android and Apple devices. You can select what you want to disable, whether that be Extreme Alerts, Emergency or Severe.

I don’t think you can disable the emergency alerts. It’d be nice if you could quiet them down at least.

I, thankfully, managed to turn them off when the test alert was sent out last year, I've got a Google pixel, but it should be on your settings somewhere. I was just getting my son to sleep and wouldn't have been happy with that racket going off just as he finally nodded off

Well, that woke us all up! Windows all open & 3 pretty full campsites all in ear shot - certainly loud enough when all phones went off simultaneously! 🫣‍. So many fires down here recently, can't say the warning isn't needed (Cornwall).
