Good wines

Oooh I'm a total wine fiend. I mostly know about Spanish wine.
Favourite reds are Cune, Beronia, Muga, Vina Ardanza, Emilio Moro, Vina Alberdi and Pesquera. Quite oaky reds.

I love albarino and verdejo grape for whites, also chablis, gavi and picpoul. Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc when I want to treat myself to a more expensive white. I like light, mineral whites with some fruit flavour.

Recently become obsessed with Tenacity Old Vine shiraz, so punchy.

The people I know who really know wine often say Lidl's wine tour turns up some serious goodies. Multiple, unrelated people have recommended it as a good, inexpensive way to find really decent examples of different grapes to try.

Personally a really 'good' wine is probably not something I'd appreciate as I like clean, light flavours, I don't really drink red but 'll enjoy a Pinot Noir, probably because its the closest red to white! I love a fresh, crisp white, nothing oaked. Chablis, Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre, Gavi would be my go to chilled in the summer
Whispering Angel is a gorgeous French rose but £15-20. Nice to take as a gift.

I can absolutely agree. You can't go wrong with Laithwaites wines. My two favourites are called Black Stump and Waxed Bat. Enjoy.

Honestly if you love black stump try this. Its not cheap but its the best aussie red i've had

I have never liked rose but I would like to like it in the summer any recommendations for a nice rose? Not the bright pink looking ones as too sweet

Most people would probably recommend Whispering Angel, which is nice, but I think it's a bit overrated for the price. It's not particularly unique IMO.

Cassilero del diablo and Dark Horse are my usual for different kinds of red and white. i've never had a bad one yet from them. I like most red wines but when it comes to white I prefer a sauv blanc or pinot grigio.

I’m looking for decent wines. I’m generally a red girl but have recently started drinking white too but red is still my favourite. I like French wines, I know they much they’re quite mellow (excuse the non wine lingo!) I’ve just not found THE wine yet.

I personally dislike Chardonnay, as it has too much of an oaky flavour for my palate.

But I do like white wines of the Loire Valley - Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre, Vouvray, Sauvignon blanc. Pouilly Fumé is my favourite, the kind of wine you can just drink on its own.

Laithwaites do some nice wines and they do mail order too.

That is a gorgeous Red wine and I have a couple of bottles left. I don’t drink much wine these days, but if I was going to start drinking it again, this would be my go-to wine.

I had no idea how popular it was until after this reminded me of it and I went to have a look again. It's something I only drink at my waitrose shopping brother's, I'd go for a <£8 bottle for at home, if that, Hello Barefoot

Try a Pino Grigio blush. I love it with a BBQ in summer, and Sainsburys own is great.

I love wine and am thinking about it more than normal while I'm trying to lay off the sauce in Jan . Country of choice is always France or Italy, but also have found that you can get some really lovely Eastern European wines these days. Hungarian and Romanian in particular - especially if you like natural wine. And Georgian because fun fact: Georgia is the birthplace of wine! The most well known Georgian one is called Pheasant's Tears and it does not disappoint if you like orange wine.

If anyone here likes natural wines this is the best priced one I've come across, not as funky as some and very easy drinking. I get a wine subscription box once a month which is great because I've tried a huge variety over the past few years.

I used to get a nice one in the Lloyds bars, it was like a dark rosè, almost a red colour. Syrah ,it was called, I could just drink some.


My faves are :
White - pinot grigio
Red - shiraz or cabernet sauvignon
Rosè - white zinfandel

I like prosecco if I'm in the mood but I'm not usually a fan of wine that's too fizzy . I don't tend to go for expensive or good makes.
