As it’s a new thread and we often have an inspiring quote in the first few posts, this is one of my favourites from American Women’s rights activist, Susan B. Anthony, which remains particularly relevant over a hundred years later.

Do you know what is REALLY embarrassing? A doctor that doesn’t ( or chooses not to for financial gain) understand the difference between male and female anatomy, physiology and function. And no, men cannot get pregnant ever.
I hope one day the despicable Webberley ends up behind bars where she belongs for the damage she’s causing.

Men who are not named "Dan" commit an overwhelming majority of sexual crimes as opposed to men named "Dan" I have a friend named "Dan" and he's very nice and would never harm women, but I've known a lot of men not named "Dan" who have hurt women.
This is why it's okay to separate spaces based on sex, but to make exceptions for all men named "Dan" and allow them into women's spaces. Yes, any man can change his name to "Dan" at any time, but we have no evidence to show men would do this in order to gain access to women.
Okay, yes, actually some men named "Dan" have harmed women, but those are outliers and do not represent the majority of "Dans." You shouldn't judge all Dans based on what some Dans have done. The majority of violence committed against women is done by non-Dans, so you can only judge all non-Dans on what those few non-Dans have done.
Well, okay, yeah, "Dans" who have committed sex crimes are overrepresented in prison now, but that's just because a lot of men in prison are changing their name to "Dan," but they don't actually want their name to be "Dan." They're just faking.
We'll only let the men who really want to be Dan in women's spaces. How do we know? Well it's simple. Just ask them if they really want to be called "Dan" ....

This is your brain on "gender ideology"

Heard a horrible story this week. My brother’s niece is training to be a midwife, and is nearing the end of her studies. She had an appointment a few weeks ago where a couple arrived for their first meeting with the midwife led unit she’s a part of (is this called booking in? I don’t have kids so am a bit clueless). This was her first meeting with them. One was an ordinary female person, the other one also appeared to be female, but had a beard and flat chest. She assumed that it would be the one without the beard who would be needing her services and started to talk to her about her pregnancy.

Only it turned out that it was the one who thinks she’s a man who is pregnant. And they made a complaint against this trainee, who was only trying to do her job, for her “transphobia” in not guessing that a woman who had obviously rejected her womanhood was actually pregnant. Bonkers or what? She did nothing, she only got as far as saying something like”how are you feeling, Sam?” while looking at the wrong woman. She’s fuming and is now contemplating leaving the profession. She says she’s completely happy to give care to who ever needs it, however they identify, but she’s a midwife not a mind reader.

That’s crazy because if she’d tried to clarify which was pregnant then that would be transphobic as well, as then she wouldn’t be recognising that the bearded one was meant to be a man. You literally can’t win with these types.

Poor girl!

When you think - she couldn't win; if she had addressed the correct person, it would have been a signal that the person didn't "pass". As it was, she addressed the wrong one, and signalled that in her mind 'only women" can get pregnant.

In any sane world this complaint would be treated with the contempt it deserves.

I hope she doesn't leave the profession - we need people like her to care for women and their babies. The tide is turning now and soon (I hope!) sanity will return. I hope she doesn't turn her back on a career she has worked so hard for because of this very upsetting incident.

EDIT - Cross-posted with @BlairWaldorf86

Ffs I bet there are loads of thsee instances where a midwife has inadvertently focused on the wrong one when two bio females come in together to a first appointment too.

its not transphobia it’s just at random with a 50% chance picking the wrong person in a couple you have never met before.

its no different to the rather awkward moment that a bank manager made the wrong assumption that my brother and I were actually a married couple when we went in together to close the bank account of our newly deceased parent just after they died.

the poor manager was quite embarrassed at his error when I had to correct him that we were not married but actually siblings o_O:ROFLMAO:

did we get very offended and make a huge complaint…… NO we glazed over it and proceeded with the business at hand!

I sometimes suspect that people like this look to be offended, and test people so they have something to complain about.

I'd argue that by assuming it was the presenting female that was pregnant rather than the one presenting as male, she was doing exactly what TRAs demand, that they are treated as the gender as to how they present.

But I imagine that couple would be exhausting to deal with in any setting.

I’ve lurked and learnt from here for a while and wondered if you terven would help me with something?

I went somewhere yesterday and the toilets had signs on the door that said ‘use the facilities you feel most comfortable with’ - I want to write to the organisation and say that I object to this, esp in the light of the Supreme Court ruling. The organisation is pretty captured and I’m sure thinks it is being ‘kind’.

Can anyone help me with some wording to get my point across, please? I don’t want to waffle or obfuscate, which is my default ‘nice woman setting’
