Does that mean they can choose to use her home for whatever they want?If I chose to identify as trans, could I go into the House of Commons and sit in the speakers chair - after all I belong anywhere I want?
While women in maternity units aren't unwell, it's always a policy that the toilet / bathroom within hospital wards are strictly for patients only, and a major reason is hygiene control. Although it's inevitable that some visitors will ignore this, in my experience (admittedly of male wards) most visitors understand.I think this is why the staff are having a hard time enforcing the rules because it all seems so open to interpretation.
It seems like unless a biological female he shouldn't be given the same provisions as biologically female birth partners. But the staff dont want to challenge this or advise him he has to leave at certain times because they look transphobic and open themselves to complaints.
Theyre relying mostly on women just putting up and shutting up to keep the peace.
In a maternity setting you'd think we would have even the slightest priority given to us, but no. Hes been here for 2 full days and hasn't left for more than about 30 mins to return with food. The woman in the bed beside me asked earlier if she should complain as she had to wait almost an hour (less than 12hrs after giving birth) for access to the bathroom as he was having a shower and a shave.
Im sorry but isn't it a step too far? If my husband suggested taking himself for a shower in the maternity ward id think hed lost his mind. He wont even use the toilet in case a woman needs access to it he walks down to the male toilets outside the ward.
Officially sleep deprived and fed up feeling uncomfortable. As far as I know there are only a handful of single rooms and theyre primarily for very difficult births or where babies are in the NICU so I wouldn't want to take one of those when im doing alright physically.

As ever, it's always a retailer whose primary profit comes from women, and the biggest spenders are likely to be older, middle class etc. I doubt this shit would fly at Screwfix or wherever.
Not that long ago I had a referral for myself sent to a busy psychiatric practice (I just wasn't coping with the death of my mumI’ve been looking for a Counsellor for a family member. While searching through the list of accredited people, there are a few that are clearly trans (all F to M luckily) but quite a few mention trans support in their bio. So so dangerous.
I hope that the guiding organisation gets its backside kicked over this.Girlguiding is facing legal action from a parent over its transgender policy which she claims discriminates against her seven-year-old daughter.
