You’d think a member of parliament would understand that today’s ruling was about law that already existed, and nothing has actually changed legally. It’s worrying she either doesn’t understand it or deliberately wants to misrepresent it. I expect it’s the latter.
If trans people got extra rights from the wrong interpretation of the law then they were ‘rights’ they were never entitled to. Men saying they identified as women were never entitled to enter women’s spaces. The reason the law has needed to be clarified at all is because Scottish government were determined to go against it.
So anyone who feels they have ‘lost’ something today has been benefitting from something they were never legally entitled to in the first place.

To be honest, on a commute, I'm not looking at someone's badges. I'd offer my seat to a pregnant woman or someone elderly but I'm generally not on the lookout for 30 year old women dressed as toddlers so I can review their selection of badges to decide if I need to offer them my seat. She seems to think she's the main character and we're all extras in her life. Likewise various lanyards that supposedly mean the wear is autistic or whatever. I have a life and my own fair share of struggles, sorry I am neither telepathic and nor have I brought my dictionary of lanyards and badges on the bus.
I have two close friends with a "chronic pain condition" (Fibromyalgia). One also has MS. Neither would dream of wearing a badge about it. Rarely do they mention it, even when asked how they're doing. They're both very interesting people and one (my lovely best friend) is very professionally successful and would not like to be defined by what she can't do.
I also have a couple of former friends who were very high-conflict who insisted they had fibro but only when it needed to be rolled out as an excuse for their poor behaviour or as a demand to be the centre of attention. One actually made herself so unwell (through poor lifestyle, not disability) that she subsequently died, which, if there's an afterlife I've no doubt she'll be delighted about, such was her desperation to be the victim.
It's a real shame but invisible disabilities like fibro are the new "bad back" for a cohort of people who believe they should live at everyone else's expense. Social media is a narcissists' heaven and has given these people a platform they never would have had in the past, and allows them to believe that relentless self-promotion is the same as activism. There are direct parallels with TRAs. Victimhood is the end goal.

I’m getting increasingly pissed off with this whole mess. Im deep in perimenopause and often feel like crap but still offer a seat to obviously pregnant women, women with small children and old people.

it’s like this pronoun crap. Im always getting my children’s names muddled up with each other and I genuinely try to get it right. The chances of me remembering some gobshites pronouns is zero. Again - I’m not your bloody mother. I wasnt put on this planet to make some attention seeking prat feel better about themselves.

We had no idea what biological sex anyone was, and had to look in their knickers. There must have been some very disappointing wedding nights, back in Olden Times.

My Instagram feed at the moment is full of "TWAW" "No debate" type posts. Mainly middle class, university educated millenials. I thought the Cass report and now the great news from today would be turning points, but apparently not. Are they genuinely that brainwashed or just plain stupid? It's really getting to me. I feel so alone and I have lost friends due to my TERFy views. I don't post much here but I honestly don't know what I would do without this thread!

I'm feeling angry now that it's taken this long, and that women are just collateral damage to all the ignorant men and dick-pandering women who have supported this shit.
For me, one woman in prison with a man, or one woman having to call her rapist or abuser "she" in court is one too many, and the protection of that one (of course, are many more than one) woman who has suffered for this ideology is worth more than the feelings of any number of men who think they're women.
I'm the words of the iconic Germaine Greer, when it comes to men who identify as women (and especially at the expense of women), "so what?"
Women aren't collateral damage and we're not emotional support animals for men in dresses. And now the law agrees.

I must admit the womb transplant thing makes me feel a bit uneasy. I’ve never had any use for mine, but I wouldn’t undergo a major surgical procedure that I didn’t need. Plus, it all just feels a bit too much for me, it’s not life saving like a heart or kidney transplant. I can’t really express quite how it makes me feel, maybe a bit Frankenstein? All surgery has risks and complications and just because something can be done, I don’t think it always means it should.

As someone who doesn’t experience sexual attraction or want any form of sexual encounter, it’s just how I am, have always been and always will be. It’s not interesting and it’s not my bloody identity ffs. It’s not something I even consider. Nor do I use the “a” word as I don’t consider myself having anything in common with the self obsessed alphabet soup brigade.
In fact, with all the horrible misogyny in the world and so many fucked up men in the world, I can honestly say I don’t have a single regret.

Men don't need to be pumped full of dangerous hormones - risking their lives sometimes - in order to produce sperm in commercial quantities.
Men don't have to be anaesthetised and undergo surgery for their sperm to be harvested.
Men don't have a FINITE NUMBER OF SPERM! They have a constant production line - women are BORN WITH ALL THE EGGS THEY WILL EVER HAVE. And the ones taken from them are their healthiest, harvested at a woman's peak fertility.
Men do not risk leaving themselves infertile because of reactions to hormones, or from ALL of their healthy, viable eggs being taken from them for the benefit of someone else.
Men do not risk leaving their own children without a parent if they die as a result of the donation procedure at any stage of the process.
Men don't risk being pressured by spouses to donate eggs as an "easy" way of getting money.
Men don't have their fertility exploited every step of the way.

As we have seen, the GRA has had far-reaching consequences that nobody at the time could have predicted. It is a very, very slippery slope to allow or encourage governments to alter the definition of observable reality. Yes, it might work in the favour of the likes of Jonathan and his crackpot ilk to do that now, but who knows how that sort of precedent will be enacted by future governments. If "woman" isn't rooted in reality, and therefore can be anything the government decides it is at any given moment (and we've seen how the definition of trans alone changes depending on who you speak to, even among the trans community), then the government can decide what anything means, whether rooted in reality or not. That is a very dangerous precedent for those of us who would like to keep living in a free country and not a dictatorship, where black becomes white, male becomes female and right becomes wrong based on the whims of our overlords.
You cannot legislate for something that cannot be concretely defined.

Of course there was no assessment. We must all bow immediately to the so brave so fearless men who insist on using women's changing rooms and toilets.
It's good to see all the publicity about this, but saddens me that Sandie Peggie had to go through so much and remains under threat in relation to her job. I keep thinking of the fact that she was suspended which is such a serious action to have been taken against her, by her employer. And all the worry and stress she has been put through simply to appease an extremely entitled and lying man.
