Dr "Beth" Upton is a man. Which is why his version of events is taken as gospel by the swathes of female managers and co-workers at this hospital. Women are socially conditioned to kowtow to men's opinions at all times, because men have convinced us throughout the ages that they are somehow superior, simply because they tend to be bigger and stronger.
Feminists, and terfs have fought against this conditioning, helped by clever and fearless women before us, by finding each other and sticking together, by taking action to change opinions, laws and customs, and by not letting men like Upton get away with his outrageous lies and slurs against a wholly innocent and hardworking woman, whose only crime is to stand up to an entitled bully in her workplace.
Men have had to adjust to a new world order, and they don't like it. Men like Upton want the best of both worlds. He wants the male privilege, the belief that he's better than real women, the kowtowing by his wife and female colleagues, but he also wants the world to call him "stunning and brave", he wants people to notice him before they see his wife, he wants to be first on the lifeboat. And he hates that Sandy Peggie won't pander to him. She doesn't believe that he's a woman, and she's not scared of him, or awed by his presence, or intimidated by him. So he's going to make her pay. She's dangerous to him, she's an established presence in the department, people might just listen to her opinions. Upton knew exactly what to do...and here we are.
