It got a lot of backlash for being misogynistic. Treating the woman in labour like an idiot and patronising her.

I know some of you have had good experiences with male midwives but it’s just a hard pass from me. On the subject of men in male nurse roles or gynae doctors, my aunt was a nurse and knew a plastic surgeon who specialised in women’s vaginas (some women think they are ugly and want surgery). Every person in that hospital knew him as a massive creep who purposely chose that specialty. Makes my skin crawl. Obviously ‘not all men’ but I do question the motives of men going into these jobs. Even the ones that seem lovely and professional

He was a doctor not a midwife . It was set fee years ago when such attitudes were around in maternity and gynae services

It doesn't explain anything because he is literally just a man, no trans involved. There are pictures on his instagram of him as a small boy, very much a boy, and in the 80s so hardly a "oh but they said they were trans at 4" type of small boy.

Why can't gardeners, male or female, present sections about herb planters or blackboards? Surely these are the gender stereotypes we're actually trying to bust, the ones that cause people to think they're trans because they don't "fit" the stereotype their gender is assigned, when really they're just a tomboy or likewise?

Sorry.....if this is the case, I was sure I had seen an article saying he was trans, I must have misread it. x

That's pretty much modern day Journalism. I followed the Depp/Heard trial and the way it was reported was nowhere near the actual truth of what was happening.
I have been cynical about the press for a while but that really did show how bad it is now and that is without AI. Once that becomes mainstream we really will have no idea what is fact and what isn't. Terrifying

I read an opinion of JD that said he told AH she didn’t exist. He did, in the sense that the person she presented as didn’t exist.
They couldn’t write the truth if their life depended on it.

It’s kind of interesting for me, when I was pregnant I had an unexpected bleed and had to go into hospital for some tests (luckily everything worked out fine). They asked if I was ok with a male doctor examining me and taking a few internal swabs. I was absolutely fine with this as I just wanted to know everything was ok.

I also had a male obstetrician who I had no issues with, and two males performed my caesarean accompanied by a few other male nurses as well as female midwives.

If however I attended a smear test, or another test looking at my genitals, I would feel uncomfortable with a MtF or a male who identified as female. I don’t know why but something about that situation just makes me feel like a prop in some fetish game. Whether I would speak up though is another matter as I would worry about being branded as a homophobe or whatever it would be.

This is partly how I feel but also I'm just not comfortable around men at all other than my male GP.

But also, it's this weird reaction I have to them and no matter how I feel, it is actually unfair on them to be stuck with me being odd as fuck because I can't wrap my head around them and I just know that I will look at them funny and say the wrong things because zero filter. It would just be a disaster.

The same is true the other way though, there are horses that won’t tolerate a man riding them. Every rider will get something different out of a horse. Sometimes sex is the difference, but more often it is the bond and the nuance of how the horse and rider fit together.

The bigger issue with equestrian sports is the money needed to compete professionally. A whole other topic though!

Agree, as it’s not really physical strength in the same way as a man being able to physically lift more than a woman. I have terrible upper body strength and I only handle horses that haven’t been handled by anybody else, feral colts usually, with no issue. In fact I’ve been hurt less by those than I was riding school ponies it’s more individual between horse and rider.

But I think most sports at a high level are going to have high associated costs. Not all equestrian competitors and their coaches come from money. Karl Hester learned to ride on donkeys lol his family couldn’t afford for him to ride horses.
