I’ve been told off for my ‘anti trans’ comments on the Busy Philipps thread. I was actually wondering how long it would take for someone to comment. She actually thought she could tell me what/what not to say and where to say it. Utterly bizarre but quite funny really. People are so feckin mental. She CANNOT UNDERSTAND why I would take issue with being referred to as a ‘person who bleeds’. Just can’t understand why I’d not like that! Wow. I might be ok with it if, every time we talked about men we said ‘person with a penis’. But we’re not doing that are we? No, we’re not, because it’s WOMEN who are being erased. But she’s absolutely fine with that, no issue with that whatsoever so the rest of us should feel exactly the same way. Otherwise we are bad, bad women. Sorry, people who bleed 😂

I’m going to keep posting on Busy’s thread and I’ve more I want to say on her daughter. Gasp. Horror. I called her her daughter! What a nasty evil woman I am 😂😂

The only time I ever ‘feel’ female physically is when it’s linked to hormones, pregnancy, periods. You know, the things that actually make us female? When it’s more about being female to the rest of the world, it would be things like, walking past a group of men and feeling uncomfortable. Or looking around at the school run and seeing 90% mums. Or at work in a health care setting and seeing again that it’s mostly women. I don’t go about my day thinking about my sex, unlike the many TRAs who seem to think about nothing else.

The constant policing of what we say and the reminders that it’s not all men are precisely the reason why women need female-only spaces to discuss such issues. It’s honestly quite ironic to see that dynamic exists on this thread.
Yes, and I’m honestly sick of it. I have a husband and a son, a father and a brother, and I’m still able to make comments about men being the problem without hand wringing and mentioning the wonderful men I know.

Of course women are violent and it’s ‘not all men’. But I can guarantee that my 6ft4 other half does not walk at night worrying about being attacked by either a man or a woman.

I was having a sort out of my google pics today and found this from about 4/5 years ago?! Seems fitting right now. How many people who say: Not all men! My bf isn’t like this! What, even your dad is trash, huh?! Women can be violent to men too you know’ ever talk about it separately and not stemming from a conversation about women? I’m guessing not many. But I may be wrong.

It is lesbian visibility week next week.

Quick - have an event hosted by a heterosexual man who has been married to his wife for 25 years (hmmm I didn't know gay marriage was legal in 1997) about what being a lesbian means to him.

If I travelled back in time just a few years and told people that in 2022 ‘Lesbian Visibility Week’ would feature a heterosexual man who had been married to a woman for a quarter of a century, not a single person would think I was sane. 🙄

At least the comments are heartening.

Just had a one on one convo with another woman in my team. We are being made to move building for our office next week and I mentioned I might go scope the building out, and asked she know if there were female toilets there (some buildings at the place I work have gender neutral ones 🤢) so I wasn't sure. We ended up discussing gender ideology and she understands my feminist stand but she also believe s in helping those who want to go into the opposite toilets to not hurt their feelings. Anyway, I told her about my concern about women and girls, and alarming amount of girls cutting breasts off/ social contagion (we were talking about social media etc). She listened and then said she couldn't understand why so many people have boob jobs and can't just accept themselves and their bodies. But she just didn't get the point then that on the other hand that girls therefore shouldn't be lopping breasts off, they should accept their body. She won't shop me to anyone though as it was a one on one convo and we actually know each other outside of work from mutual friends. I wouldn't have dared to have the same convo with anyone else in the team. She did agree that JKR is correct however but my colleague is very much a #BeKind person so she still wants to help the T. So, she's confused.

Edit to add: The conversation ended fine, but why do I still feel like a guilty witch for going against the grain? I 100% know I am right to be concerned about women's rights and safety of children, but I am socialised since childhood to be the goody two shoes acquiesing woman and it's taking so long to unpick. I feel a little braver each day but sometimes the feelings of guilt stab in the gut. This is why this ideology is so prevalent, it relies on people self censuring themselves, it plays upon the ego and emotions. I must fight this.

Men are the drivers of porn and prostitution. These industries built on exploiting women exist because of men. Porn is increasing sexual deviances like choking which have sadly become mainstream. Young girls are being forced and pressured into this as a result. Any dudes claiming feminist credentials need to start by not propagating the porn industry. If you consume porn you’re part of the problem. If not, great, let’s talk about what else you can do y to I help overcome the misogynistic society we live in.

More on “Barbie”:

In 2012, the boy was made subject to a care order after violently attacking his own mother. The mother had fled to a women’s refuge with her eight-year-old son in 2010 to escape his abusive father. Staff at the refuge expressed concern about the child’s violence toward his mother. Mother and son moved into a rented accommodation after a year and a half, until he carried out the particularly brutal attack on his mother at age 10. The child was then placed into care. He continued sharing plans to kill his mother, including a scheme detailed to an aftercare manager that involved obtaining his mother’s new address and gaining entry to the home. At the advice of gardaí, the mother recently fled to a different part of the country to ensure safety from her son. The boy displayed violent and extreme sexual behaviors toward female care staff during his early teens, and maintained a list of care staff he intended to harm. On May 1 of last year, the 17-year-old was a backseat passenger in a car when, suddenly and without provocation, he lunged forward and dug his nails into the eyes of the female care worker driving the vehicle. The teen wrapped his “legs around the victim’s head and chest, refusing to let go, and bit the care worker on the hand” while threatening to kill her. The care worker was left with torn eyelids. “Clumps” of hair had been ripped from her scalp. The woman had to be hospitalized. Mr Kardashian expressed regret at having failed to kill the victim, telling gardaí that it had been “music to her ears to hear [the care worker] scream and cry.” He served five months in detention for the crime.
Person who expresses desire to rape and mutilate women to be housed in womens' prison.

Because men's feelings matter more than womens safety.

In Coronation Street the longest ever role of a transsexual - Hayley - was not played by an actual trans actor such as Rebecca but was given to an actress. The excellent Julie Hesmondhalgh.

Rebecca was acting then - though she seems to have transitioned after first playing male roles in theatre and on TV - but Rebecca has said post transition her acting roles dried up and she found it so hard that they took on a new job as a voice coach to supplement income.

So Rebecca has played men, women and transsexual women by age 52. And actors and actresses have played both via trans roles too. So it is more diverse than one example suggests.

Trans activists were asking on Digital Spy last week why a trans actor was not employed to play Hayley. I guess there were then very few available options. Even the Matrix movies Wachowski brothers/ brother & sister / sisters - at various points! - had yet to transition.

A transsexual was employed to help Julie Hesmondalgh understand the Hayley role. Annie Wallace - who since then has played the trans headmistress in Hollyoaks for many years. But she only got the understudy role not the actual Corrie part, So it cuts both ways. That Hollyoaks character appears to be an AGP given the writing.

Hayley was written as a brief one off comedy character to show how Roy was a loser in dating. Julie fought to make the character more rounded and played it far better than any actual trans actress might have done. Hence why it lasted.

I would imagine this kind of role is a great opportunity for any actor and surely the essence of acting is inhabitating the shoes of someone else. So they love the chance to expand their skills. Here I do not think it is woke or unfair as trans roles are one of the very few that can be played by any sex and long have been.

I think that challenge to actors should remain open ended just as most roles should be able to change gender too - even from the original script or long established if the right actor to play that part is not of the sex for which it was first written. That is true diversity.

We are seeing more of that happening in acting and we will likely see Jamie Bond and Shirley Holmes one day. Why not? The ending of gender barriers in acting roles will benefit actresses and squash the stereotype views of boundaries. If transgenderism achieves that even by default it will be something good
You're not going to win this one JC.

No male performing #womanface should be cast or take work away from women. Trans identified males do not make better women than women. The trans horror show is the most selfish, misogynistic and vile movement of all time. If writers want to virtue signal to your movement, then they need to write roles accordingly. #womanface is a true and real insult to all women and that needs to stop being publically acceptable immediately.

As much as I sense you don't like the current movement, I also sense that you are not open to your own reality. GRC, GRA, Annex B, are all horrendously anti women and absolutely force women to comply. It is pure oppression. You told me a few days ago that you fight any suggestion to repeal them, you feel you are entitled to be classed as a woman.

Oppression: You will accept us, you will celebrate us, you will not complain. If you do not comply there will be real life sanctions against you. That is all things trans. Pure oppression of women. Trans has to be stopped. Women are being raped and murdered because of it. We can no longer be kind, we are the brave and stunning ones, we are the oppressed.

This happened today...

This is it in a nutshell with ‘trans rights are human right’ mantra. You HAVE the same rights as every other human here. What you want is the right to say you’re a woman when you’re a man, make everyone else say it too, and access our single sex spaces.

I'm also pro-any woman who finds out she is pregnant, and feels unable to go through with the pregnancy, for whatever reasons. Financial, emotional, mental or physical health, relationship worries, education, work, etc.

The reasons for wanting to terminate a pregnancy don't need to be dramatic. It's enough to just not want to be pregnant and/or have a baby.
I couldn’t agree more. Society is very keen on a kind of sliding scale of “acceptable” abortion types, ideally with a painful story attached. (We like our women repentant and grateful.) Finding out you’re pregnant when you really, really don’t want to be is absolutely fucking horrible.

Magdalen Berns made some great videos. It's such a shame she died young. This one made 4 or 5 years ago is very prophetic.
She’s so right, I feel like a complete idiot for not realising sooner. Up until recently I was making all sorts of concessions (including having my pronouns in my bio, etc) but now it all feels like it must have been a slippery slope. I’ve compromised my own identity for people who clearly have problems accepting reality, and are actively pushing our rights back.

I’m part of several minority/oppressed groups and I’ve never encountered one that has the same level of entitlement as trans people, particularly in proportion to what a tiny group they are. The term ‘TERF’ is just ludicrous, of course a women’s rights movement is about (real) women. Imagine accusing a disability rights movement of excluding able bodied people.

Oh god, so now it's all the fault of women who, with their rampant feminism, are making men feel so ashamed to be men, that they're practically forced to wear dresses and cut off their genitals?

Is there anything wrong in the world that isn't our fault? Did Putin have an overbearing mother? Did women with their hairdryers and dishwashers, cause global warming? Was it a woman who bought a bat/dropped a petri dish, and caused the Covid pandemic?

It's the Garden of Eden story for the modern age 🙄

The ironic thing about non-binary is that it's closer to gender critical thinking than they realise. I don't believe in gender or gender norms full stop, that's the whole point of being 'gender critical'. Gender norms for both men and women are damaging and set everyone back. Really, the vast majority of people are 'non-binary' because how many people actually conform to all gender norms? How many people actually feel like they're female or male? 'Non-binary' - or really, gender critical - should be the baseline as a rejection of strict male/female gender norms. We can all do, wear, be whatever we want without notions of 'female' or 'male' clothing/behaviour/job whatever holding us back. But I do often feel that non-binary as an 'identity' is even worse than men thinking they're female. I've noticed it's increasingly used by women who present as women and use a female name etc but insist on using they/them pronouns. It's a fast way to get attention for yourself while setting everyone else back by entrenching the idea that if you want to reject gender norms the only answer is to be non-binary. I hate it.

My work have published new women-related policies and there was feedback from 1 person about using 'they' instead. I'm glad to say HR declined and published it with She/Her/Woman. ✌

This is exactly what happens when feminism can no longer centre women, but has to include trans women aka men. Now everything is a 'feminist issue' because 'feminism' is about everyone. Said it before, will say it again - liberal feminism is a disease
