It does get extremely complicated with LGB issues. Were having a Pride festival in our town this weekend, organised by a gay man, who everyone knows and likes, the whole community are getting behind him and having a big party to celebrate diversity.

In my head this is a community celebration that everyone can enjoy. I dont think its aimed at the whole alphabet soup community, its for local residents, with music and food stalls. Its the sort of event, that the town likes to have, like the coronation party in a local park, but no one wants to organise, so having Pride putting themselves forward to lead it, is ideal!

It seems a shame if events like this cant be advertised and promoted in our local libraries.

I wonder if Tim Farron withdrew for a few reasons. He's held his constituency for a long time and it's a well off rural area with no metropolitan areas. He's religious and I remember he stayed neutral at work on gay marriage. Maybe he's got a religious conflict with being trans? My grandparents live in his area and say he will stand up for locals over the Lib dem party when they clash, so he sounds like someone who would take local backlash into account.

Isn't it amazing how there should be parental supervision of what books children read on a list from childrens books Ireland/RTE but the same Government is pushing ahead with an act with the stated purpose of protecting children which will require all of us to hand over our details to use social media etc. why not just rely on parental supervision for that?

If I handed that book to a legal minor there would, rightly,be a concern that it was an attempt to groom a minor, but government departments or state funded bodies do it and it's all a-okay, nothing to see here. Interesting that the minister for children has no concerns about protecting children.

So y'all remember the Sunderland church that decided that following the law wasn't for them? They said that women should ask staff to accompany them to the toilets if they had concerns about sharing them with men. Well, turns out that the church's trustees aren't so gung-ho about breaking the law so there has been a swift reverse ferret.

This is surely a situation where thoughts and prayers are greatly needed.

Even despite the somewhat glib observation that 50% of the population are of below-average intelligence, the sheer volume of people/organisations that blithely make a public announcement of their intention to wilfully break the law is utterly astounding!
