I’m currently on my 3000tg rewatch. I just had surgery so I purposely watched the finale the other day in prep of starting at S1E1. Bawled even more than usual watching the finale this time around.

RIP MP.

I don't think funeral was soon, it was a week today. Glad it was a quiet family and close friends service.

I'd love to rewatch Friends right now, but it's hard. It's amazing we've got all these different characters he played for us to enjoy and his book/audiobook but it hurts that he's not here anymore.

At the minute, it feels like it did for me when Robin Williams died, it took me absolutely ages to be able to watch anything he was in again as it hurt too much.

I really hope this passes as I'd love to watch him again without wanting bawling my eyes out all the way through.

A girl that was hired for the finale of season 5 has said Chandler was meant to cheat in Vegas but Matthew asked them to cut it
I’m glad he did!

I’ve been reading up about Matthew and now watching friends has such a different meaning. He doesn’t remember filming seasons 3-6. In the earlier seasons he’s already on drugs. In season 2 he says he’s on so many pills. When he’s skinny it’s pills when he’s large it’s alcohol.
When he proposes to Monica he is addicted to alcohol and then in the next season (S7) he is skinny again because he has been to rehab.
He said his fave episode to watch was Chandler and Monica’s wedding as that is when he looked his healthiest. He had been driven from a treatment centre to film and was going through rehab. And the only season he was sober the entire time was season 9 which is when he won an Emmy. It just shows how talented he is that he was able to play this hilarious character whilst having so many struggles in his personal life. You would never ever be able to tell he was addicted to anything. He must’ve hid it very well. It makes watching it now really difficult especially as he struggled to watch it himself. Apparently he was addicted to alcohol from the age of 14.

I can’t stop thinking about Matthew Perry’s death. When I first saw the news that he had passed away, my first thought was “watching friends will never be the same, how can chandler be dead” and then when I read he wanted to be remembered more than just for playing chandler, I felt a bit guilty that chandler bing was the first thing I thought about. So since then I’m listening to his audible book, I’ve read more about him as a person and read what his other friends have said about him and really it makes his death all the more tragic. How he was in better spirits, how he had his purpose in helping others deal with addiction. Watching friends won’t be the same again, but I don’t see it as chandler being “dead” in my head the character is still off married to Monica in the suburbs in a fake universe, but what I will feel sad about is how during a lot of filming he was in such a bad place, battling his demons and addiction. I hope how loved and respected he is for being Matthew Perry (and not just chandler) by many across the world brings some comfort to his family and friends. RIP Matthew Perry 🖤

The Graham Norton show paid tribute to him on Friday night, at the end, by playing the clip from the time he was on the show. Aww.

I can't help think of this when I see the advert for the upcoming I'm a Celeb series.

Was it the story he told about M Night Shyamalan? That made me smile when I watched that clip again recently 😊
Yes. He told it so well. 😁
I dId wish at the time, that there had been nicer guests on with him that night. (I'm not a fan of M Margolyes.)

And according to this, Matthew did in fact meet him 😁 there's a twist to the tale.

What gets me is that, as far as I'm aware, he always showed up to film every day, he never let the rest of the cast or the crew down. He struggled so much in his personal life during Friends but he was always there making people laugh as Chandler Bing. the ultimate professional.

I know what you mean. The fact even through rehab he’s in every episode has always been crazy to me

I really like that they did this, although I’m pleased I wasn’t watching at the time as I think I’d have cried (again).

Someone said up the thread that they are still thinking about his death and I completely understand. I’m a huge Friends fan and a big fan of the whole cast too. I’d changed my pfp from Ross to Chandler after reading MP’s book last year and now I don’t think I can ever change it again. Not that I want to really, it’s one of my favourite pictures of him 🥰

I just feel like everytime I think too deeply about him, start to watch or read too much about him, I’m going to get upset again. So I haven’t.

I’d love to do a big Friends rewatch but something is stopping me, I’m not sure if I can? It’s always been my comfort but now I feel like it’ll just bring sadness.

Wow...I am so glad that they didn't go ahead with this storyline. It would have changed everything.
