I’ve read both and the slumflower’s is more about self help and Florence’s about feminism- the aesthetic is similar :)

I have read Florence's book, it has some new angles I have never thought of before but most of the book is just nothing new.

I have just found this thread and I am so happy about it! I used to follow Florence and I really liked her and her art, but slowly slowly I started to see things I didn't like, I started finding her extremely patronising, I felt like she was kind of dictating how I should feel and tbh I had the feeling like her experiences were the only valid ones? After the whole thing with the Slumflower I just decided to stop following her as I lost all interest.

I think the general consensus is that neither had an original idea 😅 but I suppose the slumflower really imploded / self destructed so she probably came off worse, with Florence mostly staying silent and taking an insta break
Florence had the polish of a rich white girl in handling the drama. Slumflower had the raw hurt of someone who actually knows struggle.
I think Slumflower overreacted and neither came up with any of the concepts in the book. In fact, Florence references Slumflower multiple times. Neither book is groundbreaking and the whole thing was cringey. But I feel for Slumflower a bit, she lost her tit and I doubt anyone will want to work with her after how crazy she came across. It was too much.

Just remembered she existed, and had a read through here - also cannot stand her ego-driven social media persona. One thing I've noticed, though - someone posted a screenshot of her IG back in June, and she was on 605k follows.

Five months later and she's grown it to a whopping... 606k.

So it looks like her surge of popularity has worn off, and hopefully this is the start of her fading into the background. Society doesn't need a recycled, image-obsessed white woman telling us that "we don't owe you pretty".
Omg this. Posing provocatively in barely there clothes knowing full well that sad loser men are gonna like it, while claiming to be a modern feminist because she has a tuft of armpit hair. Like get in the sea. Seriously.

I cannot be the only one who is not looking forward to this fiction book? I think bisexual representation in fiction (and media in general) is really important and whilst the concept is not something that I would necessarily go for, I think it's great that it's being done. As a bisexual woman though, coming from her it just feels so cringe. WDOYP was a fine first book for her, and I think it'd have been nice for her to come back to it in maybe 3-5 years and update it with what she's learnt now, but she's pushed this fiction book out in what, 9 months? 100% it will have been ghost written (at least partly, if not wholly), and I can just imagine it being so cringey and a reenactment of her instagram stories.

Has anyone seen the trailer Florence just dropped on her grid for the new podcast? I wonder which PR genius told her to use a mockney accent. It's so cringe 🙈 she's not fooling anyone lol

Also properly insulting to anyone who's had to deal with genuine barriers bc of their native London accent

She may have picked it up naturally as she lives in east London now and hangs around Londoners? Or perhaps just thinks it’s cool haha :)

I suspect she might have been told to be less posh. You’re right about it being offensive and laboured though, she even drops a ‘T’ which I’d do with my friends in conversation but not on a pre-recorded script for an important podcast

Where is she doing the mockney accent? Can't see it anywhere

I can't hear her doing an accent either?

I like her. I have had a few private conversations with her and she has been truly lovely. I'm twice her age so I just see a young woman living and enjoying life to the fullest and all power to her.

Nah she is doing an accent, she doesn’t normally drop her ts like that, it sounds mockney :)

I literally want to ban Florence from styling her hair with heat. It looked so fried in her Brits look 😬

She doesn’t have enough life experience for a hot, dark story 😆
