I think Chiddera and Florence were friends, and that she stopped speaking to her once she actually saw the book and how similar it was. None of this is a surprise to Florence
That’s what we need to take away from this - both are jarring and annoying as fuck.I think the overall take away from this debacle is "don't hate the players, hate the game".
(Both are annoying AF though)
Totally agree. It is personal choice to shave / not shave. Just as many women see it as their choice to cover up for religious reasons or not cover up.Tbh, I'm not a fan of hers. I get the impression she's well up her own butt.
I used to follow her but when she posted about copyrighting the font she uses for her art as 100% hers, that just pissed me off. That font is well known everywhere as derived from the 70s hippy era, like flo hon you were born in the 90s, thats not yours to claim
Also I find her whole attitude around not removing hair to be arrogant. Ive come across this new age of feminism before that implies you're a "better" feminist if you choose not to shave. Like hair removal is a personal choice, no one is better than anyone for having hairy armpits. Hell, you're certainly not a better feminist.
Edit: I forgot she's only 21 so late 90s/early 00s?
What the fuck did I just read?Chidera is really comparing Florence to a rapist. I’m still trying to get my head around the whole thing. For me, there is no strong evidence that Florence copied Chidera, I think her language is a step too far.
will she be taking legal action or is she going to just stay on the land of Instagram?
Oh gosh, this is way too far. Even if she did copy her, to compare her to a rapist is too much...Chidera is really comparing Florence to a rapist. I have a feeling she comes from Camden and definitely from a middle class/upper class family, so theres some wealth there which could explain the privileged arrogance she's got. Sounds peak but I'd never listen to anyone under the age of 25 for dating and relationship adviceHonestly where did this woman come from? She’s soooo young and became Instagram famous and got a cult following, I don’t know how? Does she have industry connections or rich parents. Either way, she’s always seemed very disingenuous, the same as her mate Slumflower. I’m not the biggest fan of men in the world but the both of them spout some terrible advice sometimes. I’m not gonna be schooled on men by a woman in her early 20s who turned out to be a bully in school![]()
Yeah, Florence and I are around the same age with vastly different backgrounds, and even though I'd say I have a fair bit more life experience (dealt with family death at a young age etc) I don't think either of us would have the authority to tell people how to live their lives. I get it if she's aiming her books at a much younger audience and playing the 'knowledgable big sis' role but it seems patronising to have a young, privileged woman act like (and profit from an image of being) a wise sage of feminist wisdom.I'm a bit 50/50 on this one I won't lie. I don't think you need to have lived an entire life to publish such a book, HOWEVER, Florence has had a really basic life is that makes sense? She's a very privileged white woman, and nothing she says adds to the conversation of Feminism. idk I hope that makes sense and doesn't come off as rude ahaha because I do agree with you
This is why I think it’s sad that FG is being totallyWhy is no one blaming the publishing industry that wants to repurpose the same things over and over because they know it will sell over one woman who probably got swept up in the excitement of being a published author.
This! I listened to a podcast with her as a guest and she admits to the toxic group of girls she was friends with. She recognised that it was toxic and horrible, and she challenges it now. I haven't read the book and being honest, I hadn't heard of her until this week. I am a few years older and fuck me I went through horrendous plutonic relationships with other girls/women and I also acted in a way that was expressed from internal misogyny and I hold myself accountable now. Growing up, I felt like I was in competition with other girls and the older I've gotten, the more I see how damaging it was to myself, and others. I would love the awareness that women in their early 20's seem to have now when I was that age! I consider myself someone who is constantly trying to learn.I actually really like Florence and enjoy her content, but I can see why she isn't people's cup of tea. I think those tweets definitely show a side to her that she hasn't really spoken about, but then why would she? I don't think it's impossible to change, I know I hated the person I was at school but I'm working on changing and becoming a better person. She does talk about how she is conventionally attractive and I think that's important - she's gained recognition because her opinions are more digestible than a fat, trans, black woman and Florence recognises this. Her book is great as an introduction to self-reflection and the very basics of feminism, but there are far greater books that are genuine introductions to feminism and I don't think she or others should promote her book as a 'feminist book' more of a guide to changing your behaviour and thoughts.
It's truuuue. It's the young influencers of higher class / come from money doing their best impression of what they think a "commoner" sounds likeIt’s actually not how someone from London her age would speak these days anyway- cockney has largely died out and been replaced by MLE, or multi ethnic London English. Even white kids sound like Top Boy these daysT dropping isn’t a huge feature of that accent. When I hear young influencers doing this I just know it’s not natural and they’re trying to sound cool, like they think Londoners sound
It’s not about putting “be kind” but influencers with a large following can generally create some good outcomes. They’re almost out of food and clean water, there’s diseases starting to spread in Gaza. She could direct people to humanitarian aid charities who are providing aid, she could post about protests. Protests can encourage the government to tell Israel there needs to be a ceasefire. Not to get into this but there are two sides sorry- what’s happening in Israel too. I’m not sure I’d share anything if I was an influencer as I know sod all about it, who cares if I put be kind as an Instagram post or whatever
But I agree, she claims she’s so brave and edgy but never opens her mouth about anything edgy, political or controversial
Me either. Cringe af.Absolutely not
I really don’t understand why she’s making so much money off of reposting messages. See I get paying black women for their Labour, but this situation has nothing to do with her on surface level and it’s starting to look like a quick way to make herself money? It’s a bit strange. Especially changing the link to PayPal. Just seeing how easy it is to get money from white people with good intentions I guessLMAO just noticed that since this post, LBG has taken her gofundme off her profile and moved to PayPal instead so the total donations is hidden. People must have cottoned on to how much she's exploiting this situation for personal financial gainpeople are also now calling her out for resharing hateful/ gossipy messages so she's taken some down. This whole thing is messy!!
