Thought I would start a thread for discussion after it get mentioned a lot for the avid watchers of the app.

I think it is one of my most used apps 😂
As soon as a plane comes over, my app is straight open.
I will also randomly open it up and have a look around.
Especially the current most watched planes.

Managed to track a few planes squawking a 7700 too!

As an ex air cadet I spent many a day tracking flights haha. I also love tracking my friends and family when they are off overseas 😅😅

What a great thread! Yeah I also spend a lot more time on it than I care to admit 🤣. I love using it to find planes with cool liveries. A fun game to play if you’re ever bored outside with someone else is to spot planes in the sky and try to guess where the plane is going to/coming from, then use the app to confirm it lol.

I love it too:ROFLMAO: - adsb exchange is also really good, you can see military aircraft on there as well which you often can't on FR24. Our area is often used for military training so I like to see what's flying over us

We are quite close to RAF Wittering and theirs never seen to be on any trackers.
Always know when the jets I hear are from there because they don't show up!

I haven’t used it in weeks but a few months back, the Work Experience girl was adamant there was a helicopter in the clouds. She even got flight radar. But wouldn’t listen to it actually being the council gardeners 😂

My partner and I are massive aviation geeks, both work in the aviation industry, so we use it loads. Lots of “what’s that plane up there?” convos 😂 Also use it a lot in work, flight radar knows if I’m going to be delayed before I even do 😅

I have a friend that lives about 10 mins from Heathrow and we love doing this with her little girl

I use this app all the time. We live under the flight path for planes arriving at Leeds-Bradford Airport so I’m always having a nosey to see what’s above me and where the passengers are coming in from 😂. I’ve also come across the occasional military plane.

This app came in SO HANDY last month when our flight got delayed due to bad weather, so checked the app and saw that there was very minimal activity in the overall British airspace at the time and it wasn’t just Manchester Airport.

Also I discovered a live plane spotting YouTube channel the other day, so I used Plane Finder to track the flights they were showing 🙈

There's quite a lot of the live plane spottings on Tiktok too!
Especially RAF ones! I sit and watch them for hours 😂

We drove to Heathrow to one of the watch spots right near and sat and watched the planes come in to land right next to the runway whilst watching to see what was coming on Flight Radar.
Loved it!

I am sooooo guilty of this 😂 I’m not even that into planes but I have to know what it is and where it’s been

This is the best app. I live tracking the plane I’m about to board landing from its previous destination. We have bad bush fires in Australia and I track all the emergency services and rescue planes.

Love this app too - became my go to during Lockdown. My sister lives close to Bournemouth Airport and used to see a plane leaving daily but knew no passenger planes were flying. So I downloaded the app and found out the planes were flying to and from China collecting PPE! The planes would leave Bournemouth and be flying over me within 15 mins. Since then it's my go to and we live on the flight path to Southampton Airport.

Last year a friend who is a NPAS pilot told me about the ADSB exchange so I use that if I can't find a plane flying over on FR24.

Love this app! I’m under the flight path for Stansted and Heathrow luckily! Also near the flight path for when they do royal flypasts, which is amazing to watch!
I also love the live YouTube streams of Heathrow and Manchester!

Definitely a most used app for me! The upgrades are great too and well worth the pricing. I work in aviation as well and have (sadly!) been trying to up my ability to guess the aircraft type and engines just from the sound overhead before I open the app to check 😂🙈

The makers of the app also have a weekly podcast - search FlightRadar24 in Spotify or Apple Podcasts - I listen religiously every Friday and it is my official Friday feeling. It’s a little Americanised / USA centric but still one of the better aviation podcasts out there. Will be a good episode today as well given the tragic incident in Japan earlier this week.
