Thought I would start a thread for discussion after it get mentioned a lot for the avid watchers of the app.

I think it is one of my most used apps
As soon as a plane comes over, my app is straight open.
I will also randomly open it up and have a look around.
Especially the current most watched planes.

Managed to track a few planes squawking a 7700 too!

I do wonder why some of the flights have like 1000+ people watching them. Feel like I'm missing out I want to know why.
Some are obvious when it's a 7700 squawk or something.
Or the flight when the Pandas returned to china for example at one point had like 2.5k people tracking that 1 flight!

When the Queen died and her body was being flown back from Scotland, there were over a million people tracking the flight at one point- including me, and I'm not a fan of the royals!

My partner and I are massive aviation geeks, both work in the aviation industry, so we use it loads. Lots of “what’s that plane up there?” convos Also use it a lot in work, flight radar knows if I’m going to be delayed before I even do

This flight took off from Manchester for Belfast. Diverted to Dublin. Then finally landed at Liverpool!! 3 hours flying just to go from Manchester to Liverpool!

I've found my people!!!! I was on it the other night during the high winds, watching to see which planes were doing go arounds and where they were diverting to. My partner thinks it's an extremely weird interest

I'm also a closet Flight Radar fan! I often track planes if I see them flying overhead and any time I know a family member or friend is taking a flight I make sure I know enough details so I can track it. My brother tracks any flights I take too, so I don't feel too bad asking for his flight times when he's going somewhere!

Though one time I tracked a flight for four hours and then text my sister to say "welcome back I can see you just landed!" only for her to reply with: "I'm at home, we got back about three hours ago".

Where I live, one regularly flies over on it's way from Hamburg to Chester (for the Airbus plant in Broughton) They're actually quite scary when you see them as they just look *wrong* being so big in the air haha!

When the Ukraine war started there was a something circling Kyiv with the call sign FCKPUTIN 🫢

I will say though, if you’re anxious, do not do flight radar when a war has broken out, you’ll see all sorts that will make you think nuclear war is coming although saying that it was fascinating to see nato borders being patrolled by various aircraft! My dad works in aerospace so I can ask him questions to make me less nervous haha

Not my screenshot but had the notification come through for this last night the he was sqawking a 7700!
I thought it was just a glitch when the altitude dropped to zero.
Turns out it actually crashed!

Just googled it. It crashed into a mobile home in Florida

I love flight radar and both me and my husband work at the same airline so its something I go on every day really. We are both so glad we aren't flying in this tonight!! Love this thread

I love it too - adsb exchange is also really good, you can see military aircraft on there as well which you often can't on FR24. Our area is often used for military training so I like to see what's flying over us

I absolutely LOVE flight radar. Soon as I hear a plane I check the app and also love tracking family and friends flights. I honestly thought I was just weird . I think I started tracking it when the war in the Ukraine broke out xx

I've not used the app before but I'm sort of next to the flight path from London City Airport, on the other side of the river but close enough that you can see the names of the airline on the plane and when it's quiet in the morning, taking off as well

Love this app! I’m under the flight path for Stansted and Heathrow luckily! Also near the flight path for when they do royal flypasts, which is amazing to watch!
I also love the live YouTube streams of Heathrow and Manchester!

I haven’t used it in weeks but a few months back, the Work Experience girl was adamant there was a helicopter in the clouds. She even got flight radar. But wouldn’t listen to it actually being the council gardeners
