I use this app all the time. We live under the flight path for planes arriving at Leeds-Bradford Airport so I’m always having a nosey to see what’s above me and where the passengers are coming in from 😂. I’ve also come across the occasional military plane.

This app came in SO HANDY last month when our flight got delayed due to bad weather, so checked the app and saw that there was very minimal activity in the overall British airspace at the time and it wasn’t just Manchester Airport.

Also I discovered a live plane spotting YouTube channel the other day, so I used Plane Finder to track the flights they were showing 🙈

I'm bored and watching the Beluga XLs pottering about Europe. I'd love to see one in real life. Must be massive.

Where I live, one regularly flies over on it's way from Hamburg to Chester (for the Airbus plant in Broughton) They're actually quite scary when you see them as they just look *wrong* being so big in the air haha!

Edinburgh was bad last night, the Fuertaventura was a failed landing then diverted to Manchester.
Tenerife went to land and was last seen Heading to Amsterdam.
The Charles de galle landed along with Malaga.
We can see the planes coming into land so we kept ourselves busy watching for them.

Love this app too - became my go to during Lockdown. My sister lives close to Bournemouth Airport and used to see a plane leaving daily but knew no passenger planes were flying. So I downloaded the app and found out the planes were flying to and from China collecting PPE! The planes would leave Bournemouth and be flying over me within 15 mins. Since then it's my go to and we live on the flight path to Southampton Airport.

Last year a friend who is a NPAS pilot told me about the ADSB exchange so I use that if I can't find a plane flying over on FR24.

I've found my people!!!! I was on it the other night during the high winds, watching to see which planes were doing go arounds and where they were diverting to. My partner thinks it's an extremely weird interest 😅
I was watching the chaos at Manchester a few weeks ago. Even an A380 had to do a go around. I like watching BigJetsTV when it's windy. There was also someone covering Manchester that day.

What a great thread! Yeah I also spend a lot more time on it than I care to admit 🤣. I love using it to find planes with cool liveries. A fun game to play if you’re ever bored outside with someone else is to spot planes in the sky and try to guess where the plane is going to/coming from, then use the app to confirm it lol.

Can confirm it’s bloody awful here in Glasgow. Nothing has gotten in for a few hours, bar a J2 from Prague who managed to get in not too long ago, everything else has diverted elsewhere. Feel sorry for the folk on that Sharm, they’ve been in the air for near 7 hours.

Update, the TUI Sharm has now declared a fuel emergency. What a day 🤦🏼‍♀️

I do wonder why some of the flights have like 1000+ people watching them. Feel like I'm missing out 🤣 I want to know why.
Some are obvious when it's a 7700 squawk or something.
Or the flight when the Pandas returned to china for example at one point had like 2.5k people tracking that 1 flight!
The panda flight went over my house. I ran out to see it 😂 that was the closest I got to them the whole time they were in Scotland.

This is the best app. I live tracking the plane I’m about to board landing from its previous destination. We have bad bush fires in Australia and I track all the emergency services and rescue planes.

BigJetTV is quite a character! When I started following him, YouTube suddenly started to recommend more videos where people film from the side of a runway. Manchester is another popular one.

The diverts last night were mad. All these people have expecting to come back from th Canaries or Turkey to Glasgow/Gatwick/Luton and ending up in Lyon or Paris. Or the poor buggers who left Dublin for Edinburgh and ended up in Cologne I think!

Glasgow flight diverted to Prestwick. I wonder if they get buses or if the plane takes off again later?

Glasgow must be bad because this is another one that bailed and headed to Prestwick.

Update. Didn't manage at Prestwick either.
