I don’t know what’s going wrong with my perfumes but they are all going ‘off’. Some have changed their scents even though they are less than a year old, some have literally no staying power. I put in several sprays on Montal Rose Musk which is a beast mode fragrance for me usually but I can hardly smell it nor can my family. I don’t keep my fragrances in the sun or anything so not sure what the hell is going on.

I am not sure why this is happening either . Where do you tend to keep them? Are they close to a radiator or anything?

Does anyone know if a good website that sells Arabian perfumes? I’ve read that they are longer lasting than others and want to try some. I was looking at emiratesoud.co.uk but on Facebook the reviews were low saying fragrances didn’t turn up after purchase? Are there any better sites?
I'm Australian. I have a few Arabian Perfume/Muslim bookstores stores located near me, including Bujairami. I also buy decants from Love that scent. A lot of Arabian perfumes contain Oud. Which can be an acquired taste. So blind buying never works. My favourite perfume at the moment is Oud & Roses. I even bought the matching bukhoor. If I lived the UK I'd go to Dubai and buy all the perfumes. Well if there wasn't a war going on 😞

I keep them on my chest of drawers, nowhere near the radiator. I’m going to temporarily give them to my mum and see if she can smell them. I do have a mould problem in my room so I wonder if this could be impacting them?

Are they in boxes? Also high volume hydrogen peroxide for your mould.

a dehumidifier would also help the mould issue too.
We have had awful issues with damp this winter - i am guessing to the amount of rain that the UK has been bombarded with

I asked ChatGPT - it came back with this :-

A few likely explanations:

1. Partial smell loss (very common)

People can lose sensitivity to smell without realising it.

Common causes:

  • recent cold or sinus infection
  • allergies or blocked sinuses
  • long-COVID smell changes
  • hormonal shifts (this can happen in perimenopause)
  • certain medications

Often it’s not complete smell loss, just reduced sensitivity.

2. Olfactory fatigue from heavy perfume use

If someone sprays a lot or smells perfumes constantly (collectors, reviewers, etc.), their brain can temporarily “switch off” those scent signals.

So they smell nothing, while other people around them still smell the perfume clearly.

3. Becoming anosmic to specific molecules

Some people suddenly stop detecting certain common perfume ingredients, especially:

  • Ambroxan
  • Iso E Super
  • modern synthetic musks

If many of her perfumes contain these (which a lot of modern perfumes do), they can suddenly feel like they’ve “disappeared”.

4. COVID-related smell disruption

This is still surprisingly common. Even people who had COVID months or years ago sometimes notice:

  • perfumes smelling faint
  • perfumes smelling different
  • perfumes smelling like nothing

Thank you for this! I had Covid back in 2021, so maybe this is it? I don’t know. I think I’m going to stop wearing perfume for a while and see if that helps me. So frustrating because perfume is one of the few things I enjoy and it feels like another thing going wrong with me.
Where do you store your perfumes? Do you keep them in the boxes?

Do you suffer from hayfever? I do but dont tend to usually have issues until June/July or time. But the last week or so i have been very congested ( i thought it was a cold but then nothing has developed). I am now wondering if it is Hayfever or some other sort of allergen. Could you have something similar?

Hay fever season in the UK for 2026 is starting early, with high tree pollen levels (alder, hazel, birch) reported in late February and March due to mild winter weather. Experts warn of a potentially prolonged, intense season lasting into summer. Key triggers include tree pollen (March-May) and grass pollen (May-July).

Key 2026 UK Hay Fever Forecasts:
  • Early Start: Symptoms are appearing weeks earlier than traditional schedules, with very high levels already reported in areas like London, Birmingham, and Manchester.
  • Tree Pollen Peak: Early March is seeing high levels of tree pollen, with birch, alder, and hazel being the main culprits.
  • Longer Season: Climate change is driving warmer, earlier springs, leading to longer, more severe, and overlapping pollen seasons.
  • High Risk Factors: Warm, dry, and windy conditions exacerbate pollen release, while mild winters encourage stronger, earlier plant growth.

Management and Advice:
  • Medication: Start antihistamines or steroid nasal sprays 1-2 weeks before symptoms usually peak to build up effectiveness.
  • Protection: Wear wraparound sunglasses to prevent pollen from entering the eyes.
  • Indoor Hygiene: Keep windows and doors closed. Shower and wash hair after being outside to remove pollen.
  • Avoidance: Avoid drying clothes on washing lines outside and limit time outdoors on high-pollen days.
  • Tracker: Use online tools like the Kleenex Pollen Pal to monitor daily levels in

I keep mine in boxes if I have them.

I agree, to prevent more forming. We have three dehumidifiers in our house, one for the cellar, a downstairs one and one upstairs. It makes the house so much warmer too .

Same, gutted it’s gone. Someone on here recommended perfume parlour star lady for woman 0390 so I tried it and it’s pretty much the same. It looks like it’s out of stock at the moment though.

I don’t know but I remember in the couple of years before it was discontinued it went down to around £20-30 a bottle so I raced through it. Wish I had stocked up as it was only when I came to the end of my last bottle I saw it wasn’t available. Still have the last bit left that I won’t ever use now.
