Favourite Perfumes - Thread 5

Two options -

glossier - you . £15/£20 a bottle

Room 1015 - Sonic Flower ( this is very slightly different but still close enough to be similar ) - costs about £100 for 50ml

I have samples of both and prefer the glossier but it’s just missing something. Not sure if that something it’s missing is worth the big price difference though I really didn’t like sonic flower at all! In fact I’ve not liked anything from that brand.

Have you tried Retrospect by Merit? It's one of the ones I liked as a replacement for Glossier You. All those perfumes have similar vibes.

I might have a sample of that, I will have a look later. Yes I got a sample last year of the you so I’m gonna say it is the reformulated version. I do like it but it’s just not quite right!

Just tried retrospect, opening was absolutely terrible on me, it smells like banana medicine! But the dry down!! The dry down is stunning!! Going to give it a few wears and consider adding it to my wish list! Thanks for the recommendation

I used to wear Christian Dior Dune back in the 90’s. Is this still available? I loved it.

Adore Dune. Used to pilfer it from my beloved Nanas dressing table..!
Unfortunately, whilst it is still available, it doesn’t seem to be the same scent I remember from the 90s. Still beautiful, but not quite the same….

Cannot justify the real thing but I just love how clean/skin like it smells!

I did try dossier musky musk and it was awful, sent it back for a refund lol

I have both and don’t find them remotely similar . JHAG NAP and l’eau papier by diptique smell veeeery similar to my nose though.

Not a perfume is really expensive for what it is. They don’t smell the exact same.

It's sooo expensive and I really dont find it has much longevity I have a 5ml sample in the back of my wardrobe 'macerating' I guess, in hopes it might actually last a bit longer the next time I wear it!

Because it’s all aromachemical, sadly it won’t change. It’s the whole point of them that they smell the same over time and on different skin.

My blind buy Khamrah by Lattafa arrived today and I’m really impressed. For around £23 it’s a great buy, appears to be long lasting and comes in a lovely bottle. It’s apparently in the same family as Angels Share by Killian. Definitely going to have a look and see what else they do. I’ve also got their version of Baccarat Rougr which is pretty good

I actually find them quite similar. Not a perfume really is so weak though. So is glossier you but it's not bad price.

Recent perfume trials for me :-

Juliette Has a Gun - Powder Love . Did not have high hopes for this as thought it might be too sweet for me but proved wrong. It was lovely - there was a little hint of sweetness but was mostly clean ( and i can see why they called it powder love). Think this would be better in warmer weather. Didnt last all that long but could be coz it was cold (although based on previous JHAG experience will probably just be another poor performer).

Christian Louboutin - La Fetishe Rose - I am on my second sample of this (small aromas). It is basically Hibiscus Mahajad but less jammy and sweet. This is much more balanced. Not sure if Quentin Bisch is behind both? I will have to check but given they are one and the same then its a good possibility. I have moved this onto the to buy list. It also has great sillage and lasts a pretty decent amount of time (6 hours ish)..

Narciso Rodreiguez - Pure Musc Blanc . A little meh.. its ok but i don't think its anything special. I would describe as a white florals perfume. It also reminds me of another perfume but not sure what . Fragantica mentions Narciso Rodriguez - Ambree but i own this and it smells nothing like it. It also doesn't smell like Pure Musc either. Its pleasant enough but i don't love it and don't think i'd want a full bottle. Also think this is a another perfume that may do better when its warmer ( coz of the white florals).

I used to wear hibiscus but have gone off it now, don’t think need to try the louboutin if it’s similar!

Do you like white florals? I don’t think the narciso is musk-y . It’s more floral on me ( but will no doubt be different on you ).

I agree about musc invisible - I love this but shame it’s crap performance. Not tried pear inc though.
