Well… That ended dramatically!

It’s another GP win for Checo - lock up your daughters! And it’s Rawe Ceek Eve as we’re off to Suzuka this week! Let’s hope Yuki-San has more success at his home race…!

Let’s get our Freud specs on and psychoanalyse these broken carting kids… Do continue lovely ladies (and Stephen!) x

Happy third thread!

Continuing on from last,it genuinely aches my heart that Michael can't be here to support Mick but at least Mick has Seb looking out for him.

I just know Michael would be so proud of Mick, and also of Seb for taking him under his wing. Just like he did when Seb was Mick's age.

So, question (Ferrari engineer style) - is there any other sport out there that requires an athlete to work as a team with another athlete while simultaneously competing against them? Because I think this is another thing that’s a complete mind duck about F1 and must have some influence on their friendships and relationships.

the last part of the netflix documentary where mick says he wishes he was able to get advice from his dad (might not be exact quote i’m going from memory) breaks my heart. i’m glad he has seb and that seb obviously takes that mentor role to him very seriously.

I know. I really wish we were able to get his insights into things. It's such a loss to F1 that we can't.

i know! i think it’s fairly unique to motor racing in general tbh - i suppose athletics is a little similar in that you would have the same coach or training programme and then compete against each other, but nowhere near as intense as f1 is. it’s such a bizarre relationship to try and build with someone and obviously actual friendships have broken underneath it (cough nico cough).

I think th what’s bugging me is the people are saying Mick should have just let George through instead of fighting with him and while I understand that yeah George’s car is superior but Mick is fighting for a seat right now and has to prove himself and I think he’s done that today and with Verstappen at Silverstone.

Carrying on, I think once again the attitude Max has towards other drivers isn’t helped because it’s supported by the people around him. I remember in Brazil last year Horner said he hoped Alonso would hold up Lewis “for Max” and when asked about it Alonso was like um, I have my own race to think about? Also we all know Alpha Tauri are moved out of his way the minute he’s around so it’s just constant entitlement

Happy new thread!
Don't just lock in your daughters, lock in your mother, sister, wife and probably also your father too (we're inclusive over here, Checo❤)

For now I'll just say that I agree with all of your psychoanalysis, sadly my brain is just not with me enough today, so I won't be joining the analysis tonight.
I've also planned on going to bed as soon as I've finished my second glass of wine. Which will be in just about 20 minutes max😂💃
I need to woman up before all my late night meetings coming up the next few days. Might even take Friday off, I'll be working a 40 hour week in three days, at least that's what it will feel like 🙃

I think that’s a motorsports thing and it’s pretty toxic for these already broken drivers. Especially considering that your teammate is the only guy you can really measure yourself against. And that also has a crazy effect on the public and adds to the pressure. Best current example that comes to mind here is Ferrari, because Charles is doing so amazing and (technically) still in the championship fight whereas Carlos‘ pace doesn’t match his at times. And of course people pick up on that which leads to even more pressure on that person.
But at the same time you need your teammate and his data and the strategic options that come into play (like protecting from undercuts or slipstreams)…

You mean 2016 World Champion Nico Rosberg who beat Lewis Hamilton in the same machinery? 😉

It’s such a bizarre set-up with them needing to work together to push the team higher up the standings while also trying to destroy one another’s careers… And they’re in the team’s pockets in a much bigger way than an athlete in any other sport. I just find the whole thing so fascinating.

George was a tit today in my humble opinion. His non acceptance of blame is getting ridiculous.

First thing that comes to mind is Team Ingebrigsten, with three brothers competing against eachother in running. But they also train together and all that. It doesn't seem like they have the same pressure as an F1 driver 😅

Yup. People that can’t accept their own mistakes just annoy me tbh. We all make them, it’s just unfortunate for them that it’s in a high pressured situation with who knows how many people watching 😂

oh THAT nico rosberg! he should mention it more often, i always forget!

and the thing of whether their personalities will vibe or is it awkward? will they be a carlos, who seems to get on with everyone, or a max, who had a brief revolving door of teammates (sorry pierre and alex :( ) will they be childhood best friends where one of them for some bizarre reason decides to play mind games on the other and destroy a friendship for the payoff of a wdc? were they best friends once but now hate each other? are they team players or out for themselves?! will one of them forget what multi 21 is?!

it absolutely is fascinating. do they get couples counselling?! i’ll do it for free!
