Just wondering what people’s experiences have been like with things like HD brows, micro blading, I’ve just discovered there’s now a treatment called ombré brows and there may be other things I’ve never heard of.

I grew up when skinny eyebrows were the thing and I used to pluck and pluck them. They’re really thin now, a bit patchy, don’t even look related let alone like sisters and I think they’re letting the rest of my face down. I do try to pencil them in which helps a bit but I can’t seem to make them match so have been thinking about going somewhere to get them done. But I’m really apprehensive about it as big thick bushy eyebrows are quite in now and I don’t want that all. Can you have them done quite lightly? Has anyone had a positive experience? It’s basically tattooing your face and I don’t think I’d cope if it went wrong or I didn’t like it. But then they’re not much better now And kind of getting me down

Any thoughts, advice, experiences? Would love to hear

ETA...I have been looking at practitioners online and reading reviews etc but this is brand new territory for me so anything I should be thinking about or be aware of would be great!

I would consider micro blading, you don’t have to have them thick or really dark. I have a friend who has hers done light brown, fairly thin but a nice shape, her natural brows are thin from too much 90s plucking. I am going to get mine done for shape, despite loads of plucking I still have super thick brows, that still need plucked to not look like caterpillars

HD brows is waxing, threading, tinting. So if you have thin eyebrows it won't make them look bigger permanently. Pretty much as soon as you get home and take the make up off you would be back to having thing brows.

Microblading would be your best bet

I have had one treatment of HD brows. It has made a slight difference.
My next appointment is next week and I’m thinking of Henna brows?! Anyone got any reviews or thoughts on this. Thank you

Ah thank you that’s good advice, I did see some people’s eyebrows looked a bit thicker after HD so it’s good to know that it won’t last long. Might be good for my first step into it as I’m very nervous about it and if I don’t like it it won’t last! But long term I think micro blading might be what I need. Thank you.

HD brows is technically 7 steps I think. But the final step is makeup.

It is pretty much a more thorough brow wax and tint! I was a lazy teen and didn't overpluck so HD brows is prefect for me as I have hair to be removed each month. So it is mainly shaping and tinting. As the tint dyes the fair hairs they look a bit fuller.

I have attached before and after of mine from my first appointment after lockdown last year so you can see a "real" example. There is no make up on (as I have them done in the evening so it would just be removed as soon as I get home!)

But you can see they aren't any thicker than before

They look great! Fuller but still nice and natural. I’ve found a couple of people that I like the look of who do it so I will think about booking a consultation soon...I always like to overthink and talk constantly about something before I take any steps to actually do it

I get mine semi perm tattoo(?) with a machine which is meant to last longer than the micro blading handheld way but looks similar/same. I get combination brows which is a mix of hair strokes and shading.
Where I go she does combination brows, combre brows (combination and ombré), powdered brows with machine. Then does micro blading or a mix of micro blading and ombré the hand held way.
I had mine done 18months ago was going to get them done again in January but lockdown so I’m going tomorrow to get them. They aren’t too bad without going back but I prefer them darker and feel more confident when they are so I’m going to keep up with it more and go back yearly just to make sure.

I’ve got spmu eyebrows - it’s not micro blading. Micro blading is actually really bad as the tiny cuts leave scar tissue so you can only have it done around 3 times before the scars get too bad and after that it won’t take.

I’ve got something called soft shading with a nano needle so it’s just like loads of tiny dots but you can’t tell it’s dots if that makes sense. I had it done from @spmutattoo on Insta and it’s honestly one of the best things I ever did! Never have to think about them ever and I love them! She is also a nurse!

It does hurt quite a bit - especially on the brow bone but it’s just about bareable.

I’m actually due a top up but lockdowns have meant I’ve postponed it. Even now it’s so easy to just go over the shape of them with eyebrow gel or tint them if I want. But even with nothing on they still look good after three years!!!!

Btw I never over plucked my eyebrows there’s just not much hair there naturally and they are fair so looked awful with nothing on them before!

I used to get HD brows done which are good for a few days but it fades really quickly. I then started getting henna & again they look great at first but didn’t sort out my bald/patchy spots. I was spending a fortune between the HD/henna & all the brow products I was buying to fill them in on a daily basis, so I started saving up when my eyebrow lady started microblading & it’s the best thing I’ve ever done with them. I barely have to touch my brows now. I get them waxed as usual to tidy them up but don’t need all the HD/henna/million brow products now.

I know it sounds so vain but I was so paranoid about mine before as they just looked butchered & I felt I sometimes looked ill, but love them now. I’ve had mine down for almost 2 years now & they still look good. I occasionally use a wee brow powder on them now if I want a bit more definition but not for everyday. I highly recommend them to everyone but definitely do your research first. Here’s a pic of mine just after they were done. I can’t find any before pics but trust me, they were awful! x

They look perfect! This is why I wanted to ask on here as I really know nothing about eyebrows and where to start and I am terrified of them not suiting me or looking silly. I don’t think it’s vain at all I feel pretty much the same, I really feel mine are ruining my face and I also think mine look butchered, they’re a total mess. Putting a bit of pencil over them helps a bit not much. I’m trying to let them grow out a bit to see if they can look a bit thicker and maybe I can reshape them but of course that’s making them look even worse I miss the skinny eyebrows days they worked for me! I’ve shortlisted a couple of people who look to be very good at what they do with brows and I’m going to keep thinking about it, I don’t want to rush. Thank you for sharing yours!

I've had HD (wouldn't bother with that again as it basically washes off ), microbladed and ombre brows. Microblading you can see all the individual hairs, ombre it looks like you've 'done' your brows so it's slightly less natural (but still looks good). I'd go for microblading myself, but be warned it's not a painless process. And bloodier than what I was expecting.

I got my SMPU brows redone today, I’ll add a picture. It’s not the best picture I can’t seem to take a straight picture and I’d just put the gel to help healing on so they are a bit shiny. They do look the same and better irl than the picture. Got my top up in 6 weeks as well so will even any differences out then.

They’re fab! I can’t believe there are so many different things you can do to your brows. Yours look great it’s nice to see some examples, thank you!

This is my SIL's friend after she had her brows microbladed a couple of years ago.
She'd plucked hers away to nothing in the 90s and had been drawing them on for years.
They look SO much better.

They look 100% better I bet she’s glad she had them done that’s an amazing difference! It’s nice to see pictures as well that look more natural like all the ones people have shared here, I’m not a fan of the really thick brows that a lot of people have now for my face they would make my eyes look tiny. I only want to make mine marginally thicker but it’s more about getting them the right shape than anything and not too light, not too dark!

This is what I have - last had then done September 2019 and getting topped up in a couple of weeks. I often get compliments on them. I did start with micro blading and had them done twice but it wasn’t deep enough for me and although lovely just didn’t last for how much it cost.
