I'm just finishing my law degree and I can't imagine doing that, the LPC, a masters and being expected to work the hours they work in big firms. It would kill most people's enthusiasm for the job

i agree, but for someone whose entire personality has been constructed around the idea of being a solicitor and a “magic circle” trainee there is literally no way that eve went into this job without an inkling of what life would be like. Oh I want to stay in law, but I've definitely moved away from the "magic circle" ideal that a lot of people seem to have, people think it's all high flying and Suits-esque, but I've found a job in a small-town, family firm where there's none of that pressure and it's 40 hours a week and done. I mean it’s really not that bad, I’m scrolling on my iPad rn lol. I personally find the job incredibly interesting, like I’m currently working on a takeover of two of my favourite beauty companies. You only get that kind of work in the city. And the hours in corporate can really die down as it’s so deal dependent. I agree! I really like my job as well. It can become super intense...but not always. The work and clients are really quite cool and I get most of my weekends completely off. I do often work fairly late into the evening but - at least at this stage in my life - I don't mind that. The money is a bonus and I personally think we are overpaid for what we do lol haha but not gonna complain.I mean it’s really not that bad, I’m scrolling on my iPad rn lol. From what I gather Eve just never really cared about the reality of the job and wasn’t very good at her job. No respected 4th year trainee does a legal tech seat sorry, you would be wanted too much in more prominent departments
