Been down a Tom Kerridge rabbit hole just now and found these two recipes which might be interesting:

Another Tom toastie recipe. Would work with feta instead of mozzarella for a spanakopita-type sarnie:

And can't resist adding this baked beans thing. Personally, not for me but may interest someone who doesn't rinse their beans and has leftover potatoes and beans to use up:

In light of Jack's recent collab with Curry's, I'm going to post some recipes here that feature air fryers or pressure cookers. Unlike Jack's cooking, however, these are real recipes, with ingredients that feed and nourish real people but also within reasonable budgets. All from BBC Food.

A gorgeous marmalade here ("more jam please mammapappa"):

Thai red curry (you could veganise this by swapping the chicken for aubergines, equally delicious):

This risotto will knock any of Jack's rice abominations out of the park:

This lovely soup looks greats for autumnal eating:

Since we all love cheese:

A decent burger from Poppy O'Toole, queen of potatoes and air fryers:

An easy take on eggy bread that looks amazing:

Enjoy!

I’ve made a take on the red pepper soup and it was delicious but I only air fried for about 17 mins - I think if you air fried the veg for 30 as it says (presumably at 200 as it doesn’t say to turn it down) it would be charcoal!! So maybe a sign to be wary of some of their timings too.

Thanks for gathering these MurielSnark and for enlightening me that the thread exists ❤

This is great, thank you so much for posting (have just caught up on JM as I realised a thread had finished so knew she'd done something for a change 🤣). Our (three year old 😒) oven has decided this weekend that it hates us and trips all the downstairs electric when used, so the airfryer is getting hoofed back out next week.

I make soft pretzels for a special treat 😋 I like to do sweet ones, so when they are cooked I brush on melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar. The taste is somewhere between a donut and a hot cross bun. You can do savoury ones, sprinkling them with salt flakes prior to baking. I do a quarter of this recipe and make six! (I’m still learning to get the shape right 😬) I don’t bother to bake the bicarbonate of soda. I just shove a couple of teaspoons in the boiling water, and it works fine. I heat them for about 20 seconds in the microwave over the next couple of days, great with coffee!

Ah the baking for the bicarb is really just to make it more potent, no need to do it at all as you've experienced yourself. I love soft prezels, they're so good! If you want a vegan recipe, this one is delicious:

Oh god I love pretzels, will have to try this, although i'm confused as to what the "well" in the flour mixture should be without any further explanation ;)

These look delightful. Or would do, were I not on holiday atm and very much needing to not eat a load of pretzels on return 🤣

I just put the warm water and yeast in the bowl together while I melt the butter, add that, then sift in the flour. I don’t know why the BBC tell you to make a well 🤷‍♀️

This gives more of a visual of the technique, albeit using a machine mixer:

This is a great idea for a thread, have found some of the tips on the current JM thread super helpful. If anyone has any good gluten free and lactose free tips I would love to hear them.
My Dad was alcohol, gluten and lactose free (ish) for his last xmas which made the usual pudding with rum white sauce a no-no!
I used cornflour for the roux, the juice from a tin of mandarins (no sardines were harmed) instead of milk, mixed spice, and whisked in some double cream at the end. So a sort of orange xmas spiced fool/blancmange. It was very nice.

I don't get paid til tomorrow and have nothing in so I just made these...

I had a dying basil plant, so I chucked it in a blender with some pine nuts I found in the back of the cupboard, parmesan, garlic and olive oil and made home made pesto which was delicious.

Top tips for endless basil - every year I buy a supermarket plant, separate it out into 4-5 separate plants, replant them all spaced out in a bigger pot and stick in a sunny window. They grow so easily so you've got basil all year. They start to look a bit sad this time of year (and oddly the smell of the plant when you walk in a room gets less basil and more cat piss 😂), so I tend not to keep them over winter.

Sounds delicious @nothanksbabes.

I've made similar flatbreads before using yoghurt and flour, instead of milk. An age-old recipe that cuts across many cultures. Basic as anything.

Bread is life, innit?
Absolutely. I live alone and can often not be bothered to cook for one, so many of my meals are just bread-and-something 😂.

Toast and pate with a little bit of chutney is a favorite at the moment. I got some soda bread from Sainsbury's the other day too which was so good I could have eaten the loaf in one sitting.

Me too. I had bread and pate for supper last night, in fact. My little dog had the leftover pate in his breakfast so we were both happy!

Ahh, we're both living the dream!

I got some sausages the other to make sausage and mash but they were dreadful, but the cats were delighted to have sausage for tea!
