hard to tell without the company name (there are a lot of "Simon Harris" on Companies House, even if you narrow it down to Essex), but the Big Green Bookshop, run by another Jack fan, was struck off the register in 2020 for not filing its accounts, then restored to the register, then nearly got struck off again in 2021.

He reads Tattle then.
We did wonder if he was knocking the back end out of the Slop Goblin and she had told him

Someone has the receipts for Simon Harris……i’ll see if I can find it

10324557 is one of them.
Compulsory strike off

11870977 is Covid loan one

I went down a REAL rabbit hole with this yesterday. He’s properly set me off. I think he’s moved away from the autism stuff since the Sincere Health 🤢🤢 compulsory strike off. I can’t find anything related to that specifically later than 2014ish (sorry on my phone so can’t link properly but will fix on my laptop)

Actually I'm not sure if we're allowed to share links like that here but if you search "Dr Daniel Goyle mumsnet" you'll find reviews, some good, others less so

10324557 - entity struck off for never filing anything. Essentially a dormant company that never traded, with no assets or liabilities. Fairly obviously set up in connection with the spoof Southend News network site, presumably to deal with ad revenue income. SNN website domain expired in 2021 and was then re-registered by someone else who posts clickbait and spam articles.

11870977 - entity had traded for a while and then started a voluntary strike-off, which was suspended (this usually happens because HMRC or another creditor objected). The company then went through a voluntary liquidation with the appointment of a liquidator to take care of everything. This is basically because the entity didn't have sufficient assets to pay its creditors, so you incur more costs to appoint a liquidator but it ensures the liquidation doesn't incur any hold-ups, just means any creditors get even less money. If the creditor was a covid loan, that makes sense.

Total liabilities about £76K, no assets to cover them

12271350 - entity struck off for never filing anything. if I had to guess, they got knocked back from whoever owns or manages the "disused play area" because they had their own plans for the site.

Same, and had a search through his admittedly limited tweet archive (not squigged Gurdasani). So apparently the Mums (and there isn't just one on NM) were making it up for people and gigs / to smear him five years ago

Listed as a Consultant. Although given his politics Im not surprised he’s up the a of the BMA

Stupid question: But my buddy who IS a consultant (on the specialist register and everything) is referred to as Mr? In that article GOYAL is referred to as Dr. Is this my buddy being a gob or is that normal?
Surgeons drop Dr when they become consultant. It’s a humorous throwback to the days of barbershop surgery!

Other specialties keep Dr. Some also collect Professor on the way.

Edited to add: I double-checked and ‘consultant’ is a protected title, so cannot be used freely or incorrectly. GMC would LOVE to know, I bet…

I suppose at least their doctorates are real and involved some actual work 😂

“Guilt by association”

Amazing how he keeps turning up at places that pump out this crap:

Sincere Health
Brakespear

If there weren't inconsistencies in the rest of the story and he hadn't posted the utter pish he did jizzing all over the Slop Goblin we wouldnt be having this conversation 😂

Medical doctors can become professor by dint of being research active. This doesn’t necessarily involve a PhD, even one by publication as opposed to thesis.

Non-medical professors will have a PhD and will have had to work through a university’s very tough promotion framework.

Is this realistic/evidenced anywhere other than on his bio?

Dr Goyal qualified in medicine from Aberdeen Medical School, UK. He then received training in both medicine and psychiatry, and completed a PhD in neurosciences. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Member of the British Association of Neuropsychiatry.

Academically, Dr Goyal was a Principal Investigator at the University for Manchester for 5 years, where he led three clinical studies, was a PhD supervisor and Masters supervisor. He moved to General Internal Medicine at Oxford University Hospital where he also lectured on the Oxford University Medical School undergraduate course. Dr Goyal is currently a Consultant in Internal Medicine in Lorn and Islands Hospital in Scotland. His research interests are focused on Health Systems with a current focus on clinical care in COVID-19.

I was speaking in general. Even for medical doctors, becoming ‘Professor’ is a significant marker of esteem that will be actively bestowed by a university. It’s not just because they simply have a doctorate, and want to avoid being Dr Dr!

If DG is a professor, he would probably have an institutional affiliation with a university, which would include a staff profile in the relevant department or research unit.

I wonder if he uses consultant in a bit of a tricksy way. A bit like you can be a management consultant or a financial consultant. He is both a medic and also available for consulting on...I dunno being a twit online

But that says a lot about his ethics if hes trying to present himself as a Consultant/Specialist when actually he's still a Registrator or something 🤔

Yes that’s exactly what I meant in my earlier post on the JM thread.

He’s allowing inferences to be made through tricksy wording, safe in the knowledge that most people won’t be able to tell the difference.

There is no such official title as medical consultant.

He could be a staff grade, having dropped out of training entirely.

I knew his name rang a bell. I have an autistic child and I remember all those theories about gluten free and dairy free diets ‘improving’ autism floating around about 10 years’ ago.

‘Cures‘ and treatment for autism are massively contested. For people who aren’t parents of autistic children, those years when you’re trying to get to the bottom of what is going on with your kid, when you’re coming to terms with the fact that they’re not neurotypical, are really hard. There is huge scope for quackery to fill the void left by limited and overwhelmed NHS resources.

So this is just a quick scan of Mumsnet and Goyal’s recent assertion on Twitter that he didn’t sell autism treatments or cures.

See the biomedical doctor she mentions who tells her he doesn’t think her daughter has autism? Well guess who that is?

I included these next few posts to show there is quite a lot of surprise that anyone who isn’t qualified to diagnose would be talking about whether a child has autism or not. Also am furious that Caudwell Children which is a grant making charity for disabled children was recommending this guy.

Poster then confirms that this biomedical doctor is indeed Dr Dan Goyal from Sincere Health. The link I circled where his credentials are listed goes to a website called Treating Autism which is now defunct. So he was listed on a website called Treating Autism.

it’s now 5 months later. Same poster is still seeing him. Now she’s got some blood test results she’s curious about. So she’s got the results and then has to wait for him to interpret them. I wonder how much she‘s paid him?

Just to give a bit of context. This guy Robin this poster is talking about is Robin Pauc, who claimed he could completely cure virtually all ND conditions. As you can see, there’s a link between him and Goyal. Pauc calls himself a neurologist. Spoiler - he’s not: https://www.archive.is/oldest/https://www.theguardian.com/science/2006/apr/22/badscience.uknews

TL;DR - Dan Goyal absolutely presented himself as a man who was able to treat autism in children via his clinic Sincere Health and a linked website, Treating Autism. He exploited parents’ anxiety and worry about their children. He’s a despicable person.

ETA the first poster’s daughter was diagnosed with autism eventually by a doctor who is actually qualified to make a diagnosis

Thank you for the forensic-ness.

Here he says he is "pro-neurodiversity".

The cynic in me wonders if perhaps, with his finger on the pulse of Twitter and activism (cf Patreon), he clocked the growth of Autistic/Neurodiversity Twitter and the unpopularity of approaches he took in the previous decade, and quietly did an ideological and professional pivot?

Yes I think he’s distanced himself from it. In his Viva, he certainly seems to be suggesting that autism could be linked to gut flora.

I’m not a scientist though! But it’s a lie that he never claimed to treat autism. Incidentally, he completed the phd in 2016, several years after all those posts on Mumsnet.

Found the Sincere Health website on Wayback, which has an information pack PDF. This is the 2012 snapshot.

To be fair to him, there's nothing explicit about "curing" autism, and it's centred on the physical issues autistic and ND kids can have.

However "suffering autism and related neurodevelopmental conditions" plus "rising rates of autism" (hm or is it better diagnostic and a child centred approach in education towards difference??) and "effective interventions"/"targeted medical treatment" ... it's all playing on the same worries wants and wishes isn't it?

And those prices ... Heartbreaking

Kept poking around on Wayback and it's quite interesting seeing the website evolve in content

In March 2012 we have - all about the autism

In June 2012 we have a name, still autism and lots of different issues! And modern life and toxins!

Then in May 2013, we're tackling modern, environmental illness

This broke my heart from the 2013 contact us page, thinking of the woman on the other site who had blood test results, couldn't understand them, but was waiting til the end of the month to have a consultation. Assumedly if someone like her had emailed to ask for what it meant they'd have been charged.
