Agreed - Trump said he wants this war to end. He just wants it to end on Russia's terms. He wanted to cut Zelensky out of negotiations. Today's summit sent a message that Europe wouldn't stand for that. What can his comeback possibly be, other than just out-and-out, blatant siding with Russia? He's kind of snookered.
I think he will end up blatantly siding with Russia. A very dangerous position for the US to take, but he gives no ducks.
It might take that and isolationism for Americans to wake up to the realisation that their administration that spouts propaganda Goebbals would be proud of is acting against their best interests.
This is what I mean when I ask where is the 'deep state' aka the agencies who maintain America as a superpower? They must know that Putin would just eat America up and spit it out.

Let's hope enough wake up and do so in time to do something about it. Half the population seems there already, but they also seem to be stunned and at a loss as to how to fix things. Doesn't help that the opposition leaders also seem to be stunned into inaction.
I suspect the stories of the Deep State as some kind of consolidated faction working together nearly seamlessly for a common set of goals, have been greatly exaggerated. There is no real Deep State or he would not have gotten a 2nd term, regardless of any sort of (possible) election interference on his behalf. It's all bs lies made up to make people think their government was the real enemy. Instead, the US is being isolated and stripped down for parts so those currently in charge can raid it's coffers.
Well, the CIA and the NSA aren't made up. Do they just have to sit back and watch as it happens? Because that would be quite unlike them.
We were all dragged into the war on terror by them, and that only made things worse in the Middle East.
They don't and I sure as hell hope someone somewhere has a plan for stuff, but the agencies are made up of human beings and a lot of those are Republicans who are reluctant to do anything to a GOP president. We shall see if their pledge to country matters over party.
