I wash everything before I wear it, I just wouldn't feel comfortable otherwise!
You try something on for minutes vs wearing something all day. Genuine answer. I’m not concerned about the germs. See a few posts previous to this. What about trying the clothes on before washing? Surely you’re going to be exposed to the same germs and bacteria from trying it on as you would from wearing it without washing? Do people try new clothes on over the top of their own clothes to avoid contamination? Genuine questions![]()
I take along a tape measure. My Nan taught me measurements were always accurate and sizes are not, I did this long before I knew about the other reasons not to overly handle new clothing. This mostly avoids the need to try on. If I must try it on, I use a wipe to rinse off until I can get home and shower. (I have overly sensitive skin). What about trying the clothes on before washing? I never wash things before i wear them either!! I feel like some people are a bit unnecessarily paranoid about things like this sometimes. I worked with a girl who wouldn’t eat food someone else had prepared as she didn’t trust them to be clean (except in a restaurant - how is that better?!) she also refused to move into anything but a new build when she bought a house - she didn’t like living in “someone elses dirt”.I don't and its never crossed my mind to. Now after reading all these comments I feel like a tramp![]()
Yeah, I was just wondering if there is the same risk from just trying it on but maybe that’s a stupid question lol. Completely understand there may also be other reasons why people wash clothes before wearing and not just because of germs and bacteriaYou try something on for minutes vs wearing something all day. If you’re finding it hard to understand, maybe compare it to spending a few minutes in a room with a Covid carrier vs spending all day in a room with one. Which is likely to be more harmful to your health? And yes, I know these crazy chemicals are not as harmful as Covid, but they certainly could be over time, and especially if you have autoimmunity issues...which ironically can be caused by these stupid chemicals in the first place. Just wash the chemicals off and help keep yourself safe. Trust me.Yeah, I was just wondering if there is the same risk from just trying it on but maybe that’s a stupid question lol. I have 4 children and never washed any of their clothes before they wore themI wash everything before its worn. You don’t know how many places its been or how many people have had their hands on it.
Would you wash baby clothes before putting them on the child?
Like the story of that woman who got pregnant ‘from sitting on a towel!’That didn’t happenhow could you possibly know your child’s lice were from the Hat?
a lot of food is full of chemicals, vaccines are full of chemicals, skin products, face wash, moisturiser are all full of chemicals.Clothes are sprayed with chemicals to look and smell new and prevent mould, creases, etc. My endocrine system is already ducked up enough without breathing in all that crap too. Wash everything. It’s not obsessive. It’s sensible.
And before anyone points it out, no, I don’t use harsh chemical soaps either.![]()
if you buy food full of chemicals, yes, you consume chemicals. I don’t. Haven’t had a vaccine in decades, but agreed they are chemicals designed to protect you. If you buy face and body products full of chemicals, yes they are full of chemicals. Same for household cleaners made popular by dumbass instagrammers. Avoid like the bleeping plague!a lot of food is full of chemicals, vaccines are full of chemicals, skin products, face wash, moisturiser are all full of chemicals.
Me too. Always have ! Unless it’s dry clean only. Then I take my live in my hands!!I wash everything before I wear it, I just wouldn't feel comfortable otherwise!
That’s great, I wasn’t talking about you personally, I just noticed a lot of people saying ‘you definitely need to wash your clothes they have chemicals on them’ when MOST things that MOST people use are full of chemicals that’s all. I am really pleased for you that EVERYTHING you use is chemical free. That however, isn’t the case for the majority of people. Really hope you manage to fix your immune system.if you buy food full of chemicals, yes, you consume chemicals. I don’t. The chemicals sprayed on clothing to make them look new, and ‘sanitize’ them from filthy factory floors are not designed for the skin like your moisturizer is. Carry on not washing your chemical laden new clothes. It really doesn’t bother me and trying to educate me about chemicals is not getting very far.I’ve had years of giving up chemicals to try and fix my screwed up immunity. I’ll keep washing to help prevent doing more damage to my health. Yay me.

The difference is those chemicals are designed for consumption in the way they are presented, whether they are good or not. The crap sprayed on clothes like formaldehyde to 'clean' off factory dirt and make your new cloak look pritty is not in any way designed to be mixing with your sweaty bits. That’s great, I wasn’t talking about you personally, I just noticed a lot of people saying ‘you definitely need to wash your clothes they have chemicals on them’ when MOST things that MOST people use are full of chemicals that’s all.
