Do you wash your (new) clothes before wearing them?

I’m genuinely making this a thread 🤦‍♀️

and embarrassing myself further by admitting my question comes on the back of Zoe Sugg’s Vlogmas.

She opens her asos haul, and says she’s going to wear something that night, now she could plan to was it and tumble dry it, but chances are she’s not 😬
I’ve seen influencers do this before and it really triggers me 😂😂

so when you buy something from an online store or the pitstop to Hell that’s known as primark,
do you not wash it a few times before wearing it?

or am I being really extra?

I wash everything before its worn. You don’t know how many places its been or how many people have had their hands on it.

Would you wash baby clothes before putting them on the child?

I wash, I don't know who may have tried it on before me, did they have crabs, or lice or a rotten minge or sweaty, sticky under boob ot a good fart with poo particles? Who sneezed or coughed on it or fondled it with unwashed nose picking hands?

what chemicals were used to size it, formaldehyde is still popular for that, the pesticide sprayed on for shipping, mouse or rats mess from storage. I have to wash it before wearing.

Yes I do. I read somewhere that often clothes are often treated with various things when they’re transported - like fungicides etc - and so it’s better to give them a wash before wearing, especially if you have sensitive skin.

It’s never crossed my mind to wash new clothes, although I always wash new bedding before I put it on the bed. I might start after reading this thread though 😆 .

I’ve never done it before, always been happy to wear clothes straight off the hanger/out of the packet, but after reading this thread it’s making me think twice!

A few times?? Not even just once?

I think you are on your own with this, I don’t think the vast majority of people are washing things a few times before wearing 😂

I always wash bedding, and anything that I buy from Depop or a charity shop as I'm not a massive fan of a lot of detergent scents, but typically not things that I've brought brand new from a store.
