I'm really not sure how long DS will last. I have already seen two decent threads now having problems with FMs who rarely, if ever posted on them, but now they have nowhere else to go, they are infiltrating them.
This is so interesting, as I knew there was somebody on DS who reminded me of the Mulholland Drive person, and when you said Dippy Di, that rang a bell straight away. They were always posting banal stuff like how annoying it is when you need a wee in the night and are comfy in bed, etc.
What threads would those be?

If the rumours are true why they axed various sections its a terrible failure of moderation.
pretty much every forum has to face these issues. but DS cant cope?
given the short notice. There are some really clever people out there who would gladly help out for free if it meant
keeping the forums open.
Right now it feels like everyone is being punished because they didnt ban the right people.
There was a huge row, with Iain Dale threatening to sue for libel. The thread was temporarily closed but soma_'s account is still active. She just stopped posting.
People should be entitled to their own opinion without being attacked, especially on a discussion forum. Again the sensitive woke people who can't deal with a different opinion have destroyed forums and social media.I'm not anti gay, bi, les or trans. I know people who are and don't think any less of them because of who they are.
Although I do think the non binary stuff is utter rubbish. It is just another of those things getting rather stupid, out of control and promoted by silly people.

She'll end up clawing herself - better not ruin that perfect manicure though. How the mighty has fallen with the threads she has been reduced to now post on. I wonder if she realises it is most probably some of her posts and constant alerts to to the Mods that got the main DS forums closed?
That said, it is not fair to just single her out when we have seen 'The Usual Suspects' still posting, regardless.
It's driving me mad trying to remember who Iain Dale accused soma of being. It was someone quite high profile at the time.

If I remember correctly, it was at the time of Brexit and every post she made included a graph, pie chart or a link to some obscure website.

I came to post on DS and just found out GD has been archived! Wow! Shame as I Just managed to get a new account after being banned for the 4th time after not posting since 2019. I loved GD haha. I never really had any personal clashes with anyone, so quite surprised to read the comments here. I thought DS was one big happy family. The mods were ridiculous and you get banned for the most stupid things. My biggest issue was not the mods but the people who ran to the mods at every opportunity.
Took a while for me to find my old banned usernames. They were Ti_Lung, MatBono, Wiesdpm and teewoods, - usually posted mainly on GD and big brother. Nothing of substance just the usual gibberish but I cant recall having any personal issues with anyone, but then again perhaps because I never lasted more than 4 months per username lol.
Hope you guys have fun here. Seems nice enough if not TOO nice.

Well I am sure now that if the rumours are true then these posters are being kept a very close watch on. I think it will be ok in my honest opinion.
Hi, another DS refugee here! Same username but I barely posted on DS this past year.
I hope you are right, but I am a cynic so don't share your optimism. It's the same FMs who got me and other posters banned, yet they are still there, scot-free to post at their will.
However, now the major forums have been closed, perhaps the mods will have more time to monitor certain threads and those posting on them.
