One of the weirdest was Nightcleaner, who used to PM female members asking them if they were interested in dogging. He disappeared suddenly after talking about having heart trouble. I do wonder whether he died.

I can't remember his name, but there was a really angry older man who had a fetish for women in skirt suits, and women's tights, which he referred to as "nylons". He had a website about air stewardesses, iirc. He posted a lot about his inability to get a job and ranted a lot about psychometric tests.

I had a guy PM me asking if I was a virgin. I can't remember who it was or what could have prompted it but good example of the sort of weirdos that have always been on that forum.

Of present members still posting I am most creeped out by James2001. He's one of the nastiest people I've seen in twenty plus years online, constantly tearing into anyone who does not think exactly like him. The stuff he gets away with posting beggars belief.

I'm still convinced Tanya was/is secretly a moderator. Never seen one person be able to wield so much power over an online community before.

I avoid them these days. Are they still having their pathetic histrionics and going on about their 'engagements' like they are royalty?

I used to be a regular on DS, a long time ago now. I remember 5371Robert or whatever he was called, the prototype incel who was insanely jealous of his sister and couldn't get a girlfriend. At about the same time, there was LostPigeon, who posted strange videos of himself on holiday and said "coo" in his posts a lot. I think he had at least one other account, as he'd occasionally post a link to the Daily Mail with no "coo", and using normal English.

There was a member who absolutely hated LostPigeo n, iirc called LP Robinson or something like that. Everytime LostPigeon would post, LP Robinson would come along, trashing him.

Plot twist: LostPigeon and LP Robinson were the same bloke!

The truth came out when LostPigeon once wrote a lengthy post exactly in the style of LP Robinson, soon after posting it realized he’d done so from the wrong account, and edited it quickly just at the end to add “coo”. Too late, he was busted

We also had Dream Stuffing, who had a weird sexual fetish about schoolboys and boys in sportswear, who used to get in arguments with ForestChav, another poster who was a bit too interested in teenage boys. Dream Stuffing was all over every discussion forum going at one point, until he suddently disappeared. I think he got put in jail. I'm sure I remember him admitting he was on probation, or had some sort of community order stopping him from going near schools.

There was another user called 'Lee Morris' who posted weird sexual fetish stuff.

I was DS for quite a long time and apart from Tanya I never came across any of these total weirdos you're all posting about. Thank god for that!! I just came across totally arrogant, smug pricks.

The moderation is a bit mental there. Never understood it. One thing I like about Tattle is we know who the mods are.

I don't know about "royalty"; don't forget that Tanya and her mother snubbed Princess Margaret back in the day. I got my wrists slapped for suggesting Margaret must have been devastated.

Did anyone else ever encounter MollyMorals? She was rude and self-righteous and hid behind all kinds of imagined injustices, up to and including claiming that she'd had a child who died and had organs retained in the Alder Hey scandal. She was another one who tripped herself up posting on another account. She backpedalled and claimed she was at a friend's house and posted on their account by mistake, but she'd already been seen arguing with herself. Possibly had some more alter egos who kept it a bit quieter.

I remember vaguely a bloke from Moscow, Russia who made a big deal about how he was coming to the UK to visit... Swanage. He did a thread documenting his trip, his own personal travel diary. I think people were mostly humouring him in the replies although a few overly earnest types seemed genuienly into it.

I especially recall a post he parroted from the Russian Embassy warning about homosexuality in the UK and it was surprising how few people made sure he knew the UK was very different from Russia in that respect. Was an interesting moment of a slight culture clash!

AV is even more foul than DS, it's a real shame as the board has a great layout and so much potential but the owner/admin appears to be someone who can't handle disagreement so unless you are hard left don't bother. Some of the worst of DS making it their home right after the General Discussion and Politics boards closed down there is enough for me to stay away also.

She’s definitely still around. She frequents the Music forum and signs off every single one of her posts with: “God bless you and them* always!!!” (Sometimes she replaces the word them with the name of a particular artist if she is talking about someone or a group specifically in that post)

Those M M threads were a wild ride, Deep Purple the policeman? Another poster who was an expert of the phases of the moon and could work out how much light there would be!
