EbonyHamster used the name TinkTinkTinkerbelle on a few forums (thestudentroom and money saving expert) and I think it was on one of those where her death was confirmed
British and Irish gen X and millennials are obsessed with Tinker Bell (me included)…

I'd completely forgotten her, yes I heard she definitely died.

Wasn't there two posters who got together and got married?

I used to enjoy DS and could be found mainly on the LBC thread. That had been going for years without any issues and then as LBC become more political, new posters joined and it became a war zone. It was very heavily moderated but in one direction and lots of posters who'd posted for years without so much as a warning, found themselves getting banned. It was really unpleasant. After getting a couple of warnings for the most ridiculous things I terminated my account.

I couldn't even get my accounts to be activated. Every time I signed up, the DS mods never actually went through with giving me posting privileges.

Who was the person on the DS Soap section that was stalking members of the Eastenders cast? So much so that the BBC had to get involved?

The Channel 4 Big Brother forum was so good. Was gutted when they closed it down and things moved to Digital Spy, which seems to have gone from bad to worse.

There was a very pertinent post on AVF's Unpopular Opinions thread (contained within General Chat rather than the Politics forums) earlier today. It was a reply to someone commenting about the Royal Family/Harry and Meghan. The reply contained the following...."I admire you for not posting this in the dreaded Politics thread. That place is a cesspit and you'd be assailed from all directions for not holding the right opinions.......Well done for giving the politics thread a swerve, I think you might have got away with it. ;)"
The mods could do with taking note of this and acknowledging the problem, although it's probably more likely that one of them will end up deleting it for showing AVF in a bad light! :ROFLMAO:

Does anyone remember that thread on DS that was started by a Teenage Girl who's best mate stopped talking to them ? Other people were giving her advice but she just ignored it. Eventually the other posters just got fed up and stopped bothering.

I know this is off topic strictly speaking, but Urban 75 seems to be the new go to place for those who find AVF too restrictive now that they have tightened up the rules somewhat. There is a clique (including the likes of MrsArcanum, BreadandCircuses, KrisSilver, LakieLady, BooRadley, Everything Goes) who are at odds with the long standing Urban75 members and frequent arguments are now breaking out between the two factions. It's all quite entertaining. Both camps are basically left wing, despise Trump etc, but the traditional Urban75 group don't like the AVF crowd (most of whom I think previously got kicked out of DS) using insults and aggression rather than sensible, more nuanced debating tactics. For example BreadandCircuses won't refer to Trump or Musk and insists on using "Cheeto" and "Elmo" instead. BreadandCircuses has now been thread banned by a mod for it! :D

Who didn't see that coming?

Did the ex AVF lot announce their arrival and expect the red carpet to be rolled out for them the way Stuart did?

There are several DS users that stick out in my mind -

FairyPrincess - I always got bad vibes off this person. Somebody you definitely don’t want around kids.
FairyPrincess admitted to having a nappy fetish and getting excited when wearing/filling one near a playground, IIRC. They linked it to how their upbringing issues. They are trans and hide behind that for moderator protection - the nappy post got deleted and everyone acted like it had never happened aside from a few posters. It was in a thread about someone who got fired for work for wearing nappies, fetish content on social media and refusing to use a loo, I think.

FP was creepy to me long before that, they've always radiated bad vibes, but DS truly became a haven for the disturbed and dangerous in that moment.

Anyone remember ForestChav and his freaky fetish? I think it was plimsoles and school uniforms on young boys. DS has for some reason always protected these people.

More political threads in Broadcasting WTFH
Rule abiding forum members lost the war when the International Space Station thread was allowed in there, absolutely nothing to do with broadcasting, but at least that was harmless and wholesome from what I can tell.

The mods don't give a duck what rules are flaunted if a poster is a) one they value because they'll have some kind of so-called margnialised characterisitic and b) expressing the correct political views.

I miss when DS was a geekier site and the Broadcasting forum was full of anoraks who talked about the ins and outs of aspect ratios and digital on screen graphics and stuff. You need to avoid anything to to with the BBC because of the fanboy nutters but otherwise the more toxic threads were kept to General Discussion and Politics boards, those being closed has made a mess.

I don't know how Hearst are happy to keep the forum going. Their mods are corrupt as duck and it can't make them much money as a business venture these days.

Have you ever come across Styker? He could start an argument in an empty room. He’s so antagonistic, if he’s wrong about something he won’t put his hand up and admit that he’s wrong he has to come up with some long convoluted reason for why he said something without ever saying, ‘oops my mistake’ and the amount of people who have said in various threads that they’ve put him on ignore as they can’t take his combative style
I've always wondered if he and Stryker are the same, they are near identical in attitude and username.

Two posters I would avoid like the plague were carl.warring and walterwhite. Two of the most ungodly rude people I've ever seen in my life, they are truly dreadful.

There is a regular poster on AVF called Howardfh whose profile pic is a middle aged bloke dressed as a woman wearing a union jack skirt. It's not as weird as the people you have highlighted, but still strikes me as a bit creepy. I don't know if the photo is of the actual member (him/her) but, either way, it's definitely not someone I would like to meet in real life!
