A recently departed forum had an invaluable thread on the insanity/hilarity that is Digital Spy and more recently AVForums. Each site having its own crazy cast of characters including batshit crazy moderators, scandals etc

Any interest in this one?

Yes! I am interested, although I haven’t been on either for ages. I came here from DS when they shut down most of the threads. I can’t believe I spent so long there now. There were some absolute horrors posting there and the moderation was batshit. Some excellent trolls there through the years though.

I got a ban and ended up here via a brief foray into AVF. Think the poster that got me banned was the fantasist Tanya1982. Did me a favour.
ETA I do occasionally revisit the thread by biffothebear ? about colonic irrigation though

I've not been on AV for ages. I do browse DS for one of the broadcasting threads but haven't posted there for years

Oh god, Tanya was a nightmare. Very aggressive and permanently offended by something or other. Biffo’s colonic thread is a classic.

One of my favourite DS fantasist was Keio something who ran a cat sanctuary with a blind and deaf receptionist 😆

I used to lurk on DS forums back in the day.

Keio Line!

They also posted about how there was a DS meet up to the Eden Project where someone stole something, and how someone wrapped a cat up for Christmas and posted it (inspired by the cute video online where someone puts some wrapping paper on a cat).

Haha I had forgotten about these.

Tanya1982 is on DS too. If a major storyline is happening in a soap or a TV drama or even an event in the news, the same thing has happened to her but 10 times worse.

If I was to believe everything that has happened to her she would have lived the life of 20 different people

She's not on AVF to my knowledge. I believe Notworthy was saying she got him banned from DS.

It also seems a lot of the ex-DS lot who migrated to AVF and sunk that sites reputation in the process, have now migrated to Urban75??

Digital Spy is foul but AVF manages to be even worse, which is an amazing feat.

Basically don't bother with either place unless you want to be more bleeding heart liberal than thou. Nobody else is welcome, this is very clear. Especially with AVF, holy smokes what an echo chamber.

Not the only problem with either site, the main issue is a whole lot of posters who, no matter what their politics, are just bleeping nasty bleeps.

I used to go on DiGi spy years ago … there were some classic threads .. Home Enema, Farts trapped in Sofa, neighbour pooing in the pond

I think there was a poster called Biffo who seemed to be at the center of these things

Yeah, it's actually tragic when you consider that AVF is an excellent resource when it comes to the actual AV stuff. But the site owner has let the user base (especially the ex DS influx) and his moderators/admin crew run amok and drive his sites reputation into the ground. Although as site owner the ultimate responsibility rests with him. It's getting harder to believe the fault is him trusting his mod team too much. It's more likely that the site is a reflection of his values.

Although I've heard that long term problem poster RichP is perma-banned from politics, and some of the other regulars have been thread banned. Plus the aforementioned migration to Urban75

"She" is a fifteen stone dude who looks like a trucker and posts from their childhood bedroom at mums house, I've been willing to bet money on that from soon after the weirdo rocked up.

Now that most of the right wing posters have been banned from AVF, the raging lefties are going after a member named Rustybin. I guess they need a target to direct their hate at. Rusty is probably just left of centre and apparently voted for Starmer, but often brings a much needed rational point of view to the political discussions. He is getting ridiculed, and sometimes blatantly insulted, on the Trump thread (despite him being a Democrat supporter and a Trump critic) for trying to point out that the US will not turn into a dictatorship just because Trump is in charge. Several posters aren't happy that Rusty is still planning to take a couple of holidays in the US this year, some of the climate obsessives just can't accept that he flies full stop, some even believe that the US should be treated like South Africa during the apartheid era while Trump is in charge and is definitely not a country to visit!!
Today on the UK DWP benefits thread, Rusty is trying to argue that quite a few people are cheating the system and this seems to have offended some of the regulars. A poster named Lynx posted this. "RustyBin, go and have a wee lie down to get your blood pressure lowered". A comment like this appears to breach AVF rules, even worse when you consider that Lynx happens to be one of the moderators! :rolleyes:

Yeah, Rusty has long been one of the few - if not the only - voices of reason that act as a counterbalance across a number of different threads.

The AV Forum is one of the nastiest out there at this point. I'd say it has far surpassed Digital Spy on that front.

I've never bothered posting, I think of myself at left of centre on most issues bar a few specific things I'm an very disagreeable about but I know there's no point trying to join in with a forum like that. They've got enough regulars with a narrative that must be stuck to that is a total waste of time if you aren't one of the clique or don't just parrot the exact same stuff as they do.

A shame as forums are dying and it would be a nice place to post with the well organised different sections of the board but it's basically a gated community thanks to terrible mods/admin.
