What a lovely present idea 😊 Kate Spade, Coach and Ralph Lauren do good work bags and would come in around £2/300! Aspinal and Tory Burch are lovely too but might just be out of budget.

You really can’t beat a Longchamp le Pliage for work though, they hold everything! You could probably get a longchamp and a designer cardholder/purse for £300?

Hi all, looking to upgrade my watch. I’ve been wearing a rose gold Marc Jacobs watch for the last 10+ years. I got it from a parent and just haven’t taken it off. I’m not really sure what’s a good choice or trendy. I don’t mind splashing out a few more 000s for something that’s an investment piece and I could sell if I needed money etc.

Thanks In advance!
Get a cartier or rolex. Most of them don't really devalue.

Without fan girling you, this is not boring at all! 🙌🏻 I love to read intel on the fashion world, both high end and high street - I find it fascinating 🤓

Yeah I was thinking prob Vinted over Depop or eBay. My eldest tells me Depop is problematic and eBay is dire these days - as you say I just dont think it’s as popular as it was. Good tip about the postage - thank you.
Not at all suggesting what I’ve said is right btw and it’s 50/50 on discussing this with ppl at work who either agree or think that actually ppl will treat themselves more (as if it’s just éclairs from M&S on the commute home lol) - maybe it’s wrong but I can’t imagine in an economy where a first term purchase in any city centre is nearly if not already over half a mil and fixed overheads make up over 50% of most ppl’s income that demand can be sustained in this country at all.

But with that said had a brief convo on the Sophie Shohet thread about luxury collectors… and it’s chicken/egg cos those lot largely can’t dress for shit but the average person will largely see luxury on them or reality huns in the mail so the idea of spending £6k+ on a Chanel bag versus a mortgage overpayment or holiday becomes even less appealing. I know they’re rising prices to price those huns out but I don’t think they’ll ever be able to get rid 😬 unless they went cashless 🤭 but then ppl said this about Daniella Westbrook and Burberry and they’re fine so who knows! Also with most brands at least trying to gain some environmental credentials I still find luxury fashion’s complete lack of fucks given for the price point and claimed scarcity v wild, maybe gen z will kick back on that in 10, 20+ years 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good luck selling your bits though, I found vinted surprisingly okay and most things went within days. I’ve got an IKEA bag of bits I need to donate/sell so pls lmk how you get on 🙏🏻❤

Just to go back to the Hunza G convo - I have big regret over buying one!

They say one size fits all - I’m a UK10/12 and 5ft9 and it is so short in the body that the scoop at the front comes down way too low and it squashes my (average size) boobs. Basically I look like a middle aged 1970s wrestler in it.

Also it has a load of snags on the bum where I dared sit on the edge of a swimming pool in it. I had such high hopes but never again!

I used to know someone who had a Cheetham Hill Burberry scarf and kept comparing it to my real one, it did my head in. It didn't look anything like the real one, not only the pattern but the material was atrocious.
I remember sitting at a bar with my black Birkin and the lady next to me had an ‘inspired’ version (it had decorative holes along the top 🙄) and when I placed mine on the bar top she said ‘snap’! 😂

Ohhh noooo, don't sell the boxes and carry bags. It's how people get duped into buying fake bags because the seller puts a fake bag in a genuine box and carrier, it happened to someone I know and she was devastated but also confused how the box and bag were genuine but the handbag wasn't.
This.
I have every carrier bag that my Hermès boxes came in. I would never sell them and actually thought it wasn’t allowed by eBay.

If it’s that bad do we even think most of these items are legit or maybe fake?
Obvs there’s no way of us telling as we are not authenticators looking at stock but it’s taken us 3 minutes to find a couple of indicators of financial mismanagement/distress online so a) I dread to think what the reality is, and b) I personally wouldn’t have faith in them doing the right and legal thing by me as a customer. Please be careful 🙏🏻

Yep and the move to add microchip/other technologies to allow for authentication only really confirms that.

Also subjective but… he’s ultimately a pawn broker 😬 personally for me that’s not someone I’d want to give my money to, and again I’d suspect he’s seen that there’s about to be a flood of supply to the market from desperate credit card spenders so has just morphed into his next formation to make a few quid.
Is it bad that I’m excited for getting some bargains off people who spend what they don’t have 🫣
I have my eye on some chanel but don’t want to pay full price 😅

Just FYI - if you've got a Chanel that's seen better days, Harrods have an aftercare service on the 5th floor. I had no idea and ended up checking in my most-worn bag on the spot. The prices for the servicing were surprisingly reasonable too!

I don’t really like the MO spa. Four Seasons Trinity Sq is one of my faves, I haven’t been to Corinthia spa but looks very nice popular with influencers though so puts me off #gifted. 45 park lane new spa is gorgeous and they serve you drinks by the pool 😉 Connaught pool area is small but v good for treatments.

Claridges spa is open now looks lush but don’t know anyone who’s been yet.
Thank you so much for replying ☺. I wondered why the spa at The Corinthian looked vaguely familiar even though I’ve never been there 🤔😂. I’ve obviously seen it on IG 🙄 #I’m not subsidising treatments for influencers so we won’t be going there!
The Four Seasons Trinity Square looks amazing so after looking at all of them again I think that’s where we’ll be going! Would you mind telling me why you don’t really like the Mandarin Oriental though as initially that probably would have been my first choice 😬… Thank you

Is everyone on a spending ban this thread is very quiet lol I actually realised yesterday I hadn’t bought anything myself for ages. I’ve been looking at boots but I’ve had so much going on in life I just haven’t even got round to going out and buying some!
Yes I’m having a break from buying for now but I am obsessing about the Celine box bag and the Celine classic Triomphe bag. Has anyone got either of them and do you recommend in terms of wear and tear and practicality?

I’m going to start at the first thread tomorrow 😅

If money was no object, which investment bags would you be purchasing this A/W?

I prefer one tone of colour to a watch. I agree the smaller looks more chic.
Both beautiful.
You have 2 love bracelets so I would go for the rose gold.
Congratulations.
Please be careful watch theft is rife at the moment. ❤
Thank you so much ♥ I know, I’ve heard so many stories about people being attacked and robbed for their watches, jewellery, bags….it’s such a scary world we live in ☹ I feel like luxury theft has increased so much recently

What's everyone's most used bag of all time (any designer) and most recent purchase?

My most used is the LV nano speedy. I think it's the perfect size for my stuff and casual enough for every day!
My most recent purchase is a Marc Jacobs softshot that's currently on sale on fashionette.

Yeah that’s a lot to spend on something that you may not wear. Incredible for a Christmas party or winter wedding though 🤍 I’m amazed at what’s on Maxx these days, hidden in all the shit are some gems. I found a past season silk Hayley Menzies dress on there last year - just one left, in my size for something like £100. I’d given up hope of finding one in stock anywhere and there it was. I mean, it was one of the best days of my life! 😂
I love it when that happens, it’s means it’s absolutely meant to be! There’s been some Hayley Menzies stuff on recently too. I’m still gutted about the Dior boots tbh😂. Don’t get me wrong, it’s 90% shite but I love a good rummage in TKM when I’m in the mood. The best ones nearest to me are Liverpool and Manchester City centre stores where they filter the Gold Label stuff out.

I’m in a similar position - sorry for your loss.

I’m thinking a 5 or 7 stone diamond ring, sparkly but still wearable day to day. Originally I was looking at eternity rings but couldn’t find any I loved. I’m mostly leaning towards a ring because it could be engraved.

I really like solitaire diamond necklaces too, I know Cartier have one but an independent jeweller might be better.

Also like the thought of having some really pretty jewellery (maybe earrings) only kept for special occasions that could be passed down.
Cartier do a really beautiful, delicate eternity band if you're looking? Pretty reasonably priced for the brand - https://www.cartier.com/en-gb/etincelle-de-cartier-wedding-ring_cod25458910981759032.html

I’ll still use my balenciaga bags if I want to, they’re practically vintage now anyway lol but I won’t be buying anything new. There’s nothing I’ve felt compelled to buy in recent years anyway I had the speed trainers which were super comfy but otherwise it’s not really my fit style wise at the moment.

I keep looking at the Loewe Anagram (largely down to this thread!) and wondering if I can bring myself to spend £600 on a straw bag 😭 I've had my summer holiday for this year but I might get one in the winter, perhaps try and pick up pre-loved when less people are looking to buy.
I got the Loewe Paula's Ibiza (small) in yellow and I'm obsessed with it 🤣
