I read this thread (from the savings thread) last week and it made me realise I have more clutter than I thought (someone said if you’ve not used something for 2 months it should be gone was pivotal so thank you 🙏🏻 )!

I’ve got 2 bags for life for the charity shop already, managed to sort my clothes whilst doing bedtime last night so a BOGOF of life admin moment there.

Has anyone got toddlers/pre school or early school aged kids and if so how do you de clutter their stuff kindly please? My LO’s type of play is definitely on the cusp of the next stage (more crafts, small world, puzzles/magnatiles, and less sensory/messy) which means I could clear some space in her playroom which is verging on being a bit overwhelming rn. I’d most like to get rid of a dolls house that she doesn’t play with (bought it before we moved closer to family, she prefers the old Victorian one at nanny’s house so saves her play for that?) but feel a bit weird of the idea of depriving her of access to anything as my mum was a major dick (for many reasons!) and would just bin cherished toys and not tell us.
I used to use NCT sales to sell my kids stuff. Mind you that was 16 years ago!

I have one of those annoying cupboards that used to hold the cylinder in the 2nd bedroom. It actually goes over the stairs and you have to climb up into it.
When a new combi boiler was fitted downstairs, I got rid of the cylinder in the cupboard and bought a couple of sets of black plastic shelves from Argos and put them in the cupboard and then i used plastic boxes with lids, those IKEA £4 zipped bags with carry handles - things like that and I stacked the shelves and put the Christmas trees in there.
It's worked so well that I've decided to put all the Christmas stuff (including jigsaws) in that cupboard as well as all the other sundry household stuff not used all year.
So I'd probably put your pillows in the IKEA £4 zipped bags. I put all my cold weather throws, clothes and accessories in them in the bottom of my wardrobe. The carry handles make it easy to grab them.
I've got another odd area at the top of my fitted wardrobe which is a tall, deep shelf which I'm going to designate the Halloween and possibly Easter/Spring cupboard and pack things away in boxes and bags.
Then hopefully I won't have to rip out the whole house for example, to find where I've squirrelled away the Halloween stuff! 😖

I have one of those zip bag thingies that goes under the bed (don't think it's ikea, but I'm not sure, and it needs replacing as it ripped as well)! I just don't like having it there in the first place 😂 In an ideal world I'd not have anything under the bed so that the robovac can waltz in without me needing to grab it first... Wish we had space for more shelves, but we really don't.

There is a cheaper model

I wanted one you could get a lot on including footwear. I'm hoping to move so will have to live without a proper wardrobe for a bit most likely.

Perhap you could add interim holding containers until you find the real ones?
I've been eyeing up jars going in the recycling. I really don't want to buy more of things I've probably got. 😒

I can relate to this, I have a huge cupboard downstairs which is full of all the sort of stuff people would keep in a shed/ garage (I don't have a garage and hate sheds as they're spider havens 😂)- garden tools, jet washer, fence stain, garden sofa cushions, decorating stuff and all general DIY materials. It's neatly stacked to an extent but if I need to get something out that's right at the back I have to empty the whole cupboard and and up with a similar exploded bomb look.
I've got those wonderful Argos black plastic shelves and lidded boxes I've mentioned before, so it's not as bad as it could be. Maybe I need to buy another and put one each side. something to muse on. 🤔

Trying to streamline my CD (and to a lesser extent DVD) collection. I remember as a teen (showing my age!) when albums were so expensive and were almost a reflection of your personality! I have so many memories attached to music, but a lot of my albums only have 1 or 2 songs I like on them and if I'm honest with myself I'm not going to pop a Nelly Furtado album in my car's cd player anytime soon 🤣
Have managed to cull about a third 😬
There’s a renaissance for physical media atm so it’s probably the best time in recent years to sell a collection. Or on the other hand… you may want to reconsider selling it lol 🫣

Has anyone got cute/fun bank holiday plans? I’m exhausted atm, can’t focus enough to commit to a few bits for the house (shelves, paint samples) so tempted to just have a cosy home day with my toddler.

I didn't know there was a use by date on batteries! 😲🤷 So I've organised them into the Ferrero Rocher plastic boxes with lids. It's amazing how many I've got in such a small box. I've told myself no more buying batteries until you use what you've got!
It's organising paperwork including all the things I pull out of magazines. Also clothes. I need to sort out a capsule wardrobe and choose the colours I want in it.
I was watching a professional clothes organiser and I was able to be brutal about the client's wardrobe - then I realised I had a similar wardrobe with loads of mismatched things and shoes. When the professional organiser had finally stopped being diplomatic and organised the client she started to look amazing. I need to do that. Wish my friends were willing to help me. I'd love to organise someone else's wardrobe. I mean you can't stand off from yourself so it's easier to do someone else! 😁
ETA. I've put all my winter throws, gloves, hats jumpers etc in one of those big plastic zipped carriers (£4) from IKEA so come winter I can just pull it out by the handles and pack away summer stuff in it - fans, clothes, throws etc. I've got one for all my bags also.
What was the programme with the peofessional organiser? I’d also lovw a capsule wardrobe because I have so much stuff and sometimes you’ve got no clue what to do!
