if you have mild covid it can take 2 weeks to go. Keep up the self care and make sure you rest, don’t try and accelerate the process. Anxiety is awful. I have it, it is so debilitating. You need something to take your mind off it….❤💐

Thank you. Am taking it easy and doing as little as possible, but I'm really tired with it too, so that doesn't help, though I suspect part of the tiredness is anxiety as well. I'm hoping that I'll improve in the next week or so. I keep hoping that I'll wake up every morning and it will be better, but no joy so far :(

In the meantime I'll just think about what to do with Martin's stethescope ;)

I have a lot of anxiety most of it being triggered by stress and it gets worse during PMS.

The things that helped:
- Therapy
- Baths
- Talking to people to get me out of my head
- If you can, taking a weekend or week trip away
- Crying to release stress

Look into TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)

It's a GODSEND

A lot of time your body is out of balance, hence the anxiety or other symptoms, ie depression, feelings of being overwhelmed.

Hormones can literally wreak havoc with one's life.

I'd highly recommend finding a TCM doctor.

I would also suggest removing alcohol, sugar, caffeine, processed foods & implement an exercise program.

If you don't like working out, find an activity that you enjoy, anything to get you moving. Start changing your lifestyle, one small step at a time.

You will notice a dramatic difference.

If you have the means, I'd also recommend acupuncture and fire cupping.

Sorry to all of you on here suffering with anxiety, it's the worst isn't it?
Mine is all trauma based, been recently diagnosed with PTSD and I'm waiting for EMDR therapy. It's a constant loop of panic attacks, intrusive thoughts and overthinking.
Does anyone else feel like they leave their bodies when they have a panic attack?
I go dizzy, my hands feel tingly, rapid breathing and a feeling of not being here. It's truly awful.

I’ve tried searching for a post on this so apologies if there is one already.

Currently I’m suffering with very bad anxiety. For months I’ve been waking very early with a suffocating feeling, my chest tight and heart rate high. At first it would go once I got up and kept busy but recently it’s through the day. I can’t think straight and it’s having a huge effect on everything.

I’ve suffered with anxiety and deep depression in the past but this is completely different. It makes me feel as though a huge weight is on my chest. I try deep breathing, exercise, stretching etc but it’s not helping much

How do you deal with anxiety please?
When I can feel it servicing I say out loud “not now” sometimes it works sometimes it don’t! Anxiety isn’t actually a thing, it’s not real.. it’s created by you and you only.

Ive suffered for over 20 years with severe anxiety but I certainly won’t be suffering another 20 years with it. Anxiety will disappear when you start living your life. You got this x

Not trying to diagnose you haha but intrusive thoughts like this can come from ocd. Sometimes my ocd thoughts can convince me I have done all sorts, like hitting someone with my car, or breaking things in shops like glass jars is another random thing I have. Makes me so anxious like I absolutely have to go back and check for the peace of mind, the compulsion to check can be part of ocd x
I go back and forth thinking I have OCD. Had to double check if it is really only anxiety 😂😭

Does anybody else experience extreme social anxiety?

I don't seem to get anxiety about the real life things that should matter but become hyper focused and anxious on stuff that a part of me knows is to be really ridiculous. It can become so bad that I don't want to go out and be around people, drive anywhere, fill my car up by myself, go into a shop alone....It's like I become so worried I am going to do something embarrassing that I get panic attacks, sweaty hands, rapid heartbeat, etc. I get thoughts then 'What if I am doing something really awkward right now and people are laughing at me' Then more anxiety because I think people can see my anxiety and my body behaviours.

I tried CBT and I couldn't relate to the sessions as everybody was discussing real life valid situations like work, cost of living, their children...

It's like I know my thoughts are ridiculous, nobody actually really cares, and I know if I did something embarrassing people would forget, yet equally I can't fight off the worry and anxiety. It's honestly ruining my life and I can't be as independent as I want to be because of it and it's not fair.
I don't get the social anxiety (until after an event when I think oh god they'll think I was an idiot) but I'm like you with the irrational anxiety - never worried at all about covid, government, cost of living etc it's almost like I can easily manage those things.... but the past issues I've gone through trigger anxiety issues which I'm going through now (some rational I.e being bullied as an adult by some absolute knobhead when I did go out at the weekend...and some not i.e ill lose my job and house - with no backing for either of those). I did an online consultation with my GP earlier for meds again. Feel like ive failed by doing so (anxiety yay). CBT didn't work for me either and I've tried 3 different therapists in the hope that they were just naff? Lol meditation and gratitude worked for a while but now I'm at a heightened state again ...they may aswell not exist.

I just wish for a life free of this irrational BS.

I take this for racing heart, no side effects. Has made me feel calmer but still myself if you know what I mean
Did you take it daily or just as needed? Like when your heart was racing? I'm not to sure when to take mine as my heart doesn't always race it's mainly lightheadness x

Can anyone recommend anything for travel anxiety? I am totally fine if I'm driving my own car but I'm a nightmare when I'm a passenger. I don't get motion sickness however when I am a passenger my anxiety is so bad that I get myself in a right state and end up feeling super nauseous. My stomach will be in a knot all day leading up to the travel then I will get sweaty palms and just not be able to relax the entire time. I always panic that I'll be sick in the car. I always take a plastic bag with me just in case but it doesn't seem to relieve how I feel.

We have a 45 min journey in a mini bus next week and I am DREADING it :(

Any advice would be appreciated. I've been really struggling with anxiety and catastrophising about the future. I'm single and moved abroad a few years ago. Barely have a pension, have some money saved but no property, no investments etc and am just so worried that I'm going to have to do life alone and have to look after myself and that I don't have the means. It's sent me into a depression and I just don't know how to get out. I'm on medication now and my third counsellor but I just have no strategies or ways to stop this thinking and get out of this cycle. It's so overwhelming and I just don't enjoy life anymore as I'm worried of what will happen to me 😞

Thinking of everyone else who is struggling. Wish we could feel happy and carefree like others seem to

I’ve had it before but didn’t rate it. People rave about it but I find 2mg diazepam way more effective, obviously that is rarely prescribed.

I spoke to my GP about giving it a try again recently but said when I’m in a good place I’m very active so have a low resting heart rate and she wouldn’t prescribe it. I would like something I can take as and when because I don’t like being “tied in” to medication. There doesn’t seem to be anything?
Your right I don't think there is. The options they gave me were Propanolol or going back on anti depressants what I didn't want. Your right Diazepam is great and works the best. but they've never gave me more than a few days worth and don't seem to willingly give it out. Was it because of your heart rate the GP didn't prescribe it?

Bringing the thread back.

I really struggle with anxiety around travelling. I have been unwell a few times when visiting different places and now I start to panic a few days before I even go somewhere.

Even when I am not actually thinking about travelling, 24-48 hours before I go I will start to feel physically ill, and will sometimes get a bad anxiety stomach. Also, when I get places I make myself miserable by putting myself under pressure to enjoy it, and feeling like I am not enjoying it enough.

Does anyone have any tips on overcoming travel anxiety?

Sad to see your name pop up here my lovely but glad you’re reaching out 😞 Have you spoken to a doctor? You can’t keep struggling along by yourself, I worry about you! x
Yeah I saw my gp a few months ago when things were really bad and they referred me to a councillor and I go once a week or via zoom if I’m working that definitely helps but only really in the moment when I’m talking to her but then when I’m at home or alone I just don’t know how to cope x
