They were best man at each other's weddings, and Mitchell was the first person (apart from his wife) that Webb told about his heart operation. Of course, people come and go out of each other's lives.

I'm sure I remember an interview where Jennifer Saunders said they (her an DF) don't socialise outside of work at all. Basically because the time they spend together when they are working is very intense so then they go their separate ways for a while.

I know, that's my point. There are some interviews where you can tell they are distant from each other. That would surprise most people because they have to always present as being best friends, for their media careers.

The comments on the DM articles are infuriating and brainless. It so reminds me of the Schofield “unwise but not illegal” nonsense. They say “he’s only done x,y,z what’s the girl complaining about”, without realising the x,y,z in question are classic examples of grooming behaviour. They are totally unable to read between the lines and seem naive as to how the press works around things like this.

This one is absolutely bonkers and despite everything I don't believe it is true. If it was someone who had got hold of a copy would have leaked it in some way. You wouldn't read that and keep it to yourself.

Most people would like to be more "fun" and "cool" for their grandkids, but being elderly limits your energy and your physical capabilities. They can't just suddenly start being cool.

I know, I'm reading too much into it, but I thought it was bizarrely mean spirited.

Then there was one where a teacher was nicknamed Mrs Fuzziwuzzi or something "because of her frizzy hair" - she was black!! Wtf!!

This isn’t true.
There was a character who was a teacher called Ms Tutelage and had curly hair, which caused Jack Monroe to absolutely lose her tit about “racism” because she’s never heard the word “tutelage” before so she decided that it was a made-up word mocking the characters race, race inferred because she had curly hair and a “made up” or “funny sounding” name.

Walliams can duck off though. I saw him and Matt Lucas at the start of their careers and they were near getting attacked by the audience they were so vile.

Ohhh. I misremembered, I thought the kids gave her a mean nickname because of her hair. I wouldn't have heard anything from JM, I never pay attention to her, and I know the word tutelage. Thanks, I wouldn't want to spread misinformation.

Not sure what to make of all this stuff about DW - not because i am a fan. I am anything but. I also think there is something about him that makes the hair stand up on my neck and makes the internal warning bells go off. His behaviour makes me feel uncomfortable and I find his "humour" bizarre to say the least.

He does not ( and hasn't ever) made me laugh. I did not like Little Britain - based on an episode I did watch and as result I didn't watch Come Fly With Me. I am trying to recall why I didn't like either show at the time - I would like to say because I didn't like both Lucas & Walliams mocked anyone who wasn't able bodied, thin, white or physically attractive. BUT I imagine it's because I just didn't find it all that funny.

Despite what has happened with HL and the Telegraph article - not sure that this is when the whole truth will emerge. I assume his lawyers/ PR team are all holding up a carpet and trying to sweep it under. This stuff wont stay quiet forever though - these types of story rarely do. It feels like its just scratched the surface of what's to come.

Thankfully she’s finally persona non grata but still hasn’t closed her Patreon so is still getting paid by plebs for “all the good that she does”.

ETA on topic: Walliam’s relationship w his Mother always seemed odd. I don’t think Bitty was too far off the mark.

Agree, I wonder if it'll all go quiet for a bit....

He can't really do a big "coming out" show like Schofe did, hoping to get people on side and hoping the stories will go away.

BBC are saying they won't touch him, the publishers have dropped him. What choices does that leave? 🤔 Will he skulk away, live happily on the money he's earned.......I'm guessing his arrogance won't allow that, even though that's probably his best option at this point.

Is he just going to come out with the "unwise but not illegal" statements? He'll always have people defending him.

Is he going to be seen going for a walk with his elderly mother to gain sympathy....

DW may never be charged with anything, just like PS, as the world doesn't understand the full extent/impact of grooming/coercion/manipulation and those things are so hard to prove.

BBC and others are probably waiting for viewing figures of Would I Lie To You before they decide next steps..... if it has good viewer ratings, that's all that matters to them, and they and other media outlets will have him back at some point, and continue showing his programmes but probably with some firm rules on behaviour...... who knows......

What bothers me is that they all still do sweep it under the carpet

Until Society truly says enough is enough then the BBC and the David Walliams of the world will be empowered to behave this way
