Dave Grohl

Remember when Dave and the rest of the band supported an AIDS/HIV charity in the early 2000s? Yeah its pretty much been scrubbed from the Internet because it espoused the importance of foregoing medical treatment and curing HIV with holistic remedies. Or ignoring it entirely like its just a cold. The Alive and Well Foundation.
To be honest so many people say it's been hidden but majority of us around at the time remember it and there's always a comment such as yours (no snark to you!) if someone didn't know. I think it is best that what they said is wiped from the Internet because you can guarantee some flat-earth anti-vac nutjob would take it was gospel and use the articles etc as "proof" and that they were silenced.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be held accountable BTW, just that the specifics don't need to still be accessible online.

Oh well, The Colour & the shape is a bleeping masterpiece, & that was made after his first affair back in the day, hopefully we get another album like that! Hey Johnny Park is a tuneeeee!
I love this spin on it!

Honestly I think the ‘nicest guy in rock’ persona really worked for him and he was good at keeping it up. Most people (men) would find it easy to be affable and polite to people that literally worship them like a god. But behind the scenes he’s no different to the rest of men who cheat the world over- they just need to be entitled enough to justify it and have the opportunity. He has had both these things in spades.

I just still think it's poor form that they advocated for it in the first place 😕

This just proves he’s only human & he has a private life & he’s certainly far from perfect, but I love his music, & that’s about it, I don’t know the bloke so I’m certainly not going to judge him & get in a tailspin over something that doesn’t affect my life. I’ll still enjoy his music, & that applies to all bands & artists I love. Apart from Lost Prophets obviously. That’s where I draw the line 🤣!

Apparently he has a rep for cheating on his wife and ex partners. His first marriage ended due to cheating & Veruca Salt have a song about his constant cheating.

Why didn’t he get the snip? I always wonder why high profile super-wealthy men don’t at least cover themselves (literally and metaphorically) when screwing around. I suppose it’s best it’s all out in the open, but it definitely shows the entitlement and god-like pedestal they’ve put themselves up on. Nothing can touch them…until it does. I hope his wife takes him for every penny he has. I don’t think she will though. The statement he made makes it look like they’re staying together.
Which VS song is it?

Best you can get & Wetsuit come to mind. That whole album (Resolver) was apparently inspired by her relationship & break up with Grohl. That was how the album was marketed back in 2000 when they still weren’t speaking but she denies it now they are mates again 🙄 Louise used to say some mad tit in interviews about their relationship back in the day. I remember there was an interview in Raw or Kerrang where she ‘joked’ that she had to stay with him after gigs so he wouldn’t leave with someone else. It was shortly before the alleged Winona Ryder incident.

The ‘nicest guy in rock’ persona is a comparatively recent PR spin. Back in the Nirvana days and early Foo days and even later on when he was with other bands like QOTSA, he was regularly being a fool/cheater/bad drunk etc according to people involved in the fan forums I used to be a member of. I felt the shift happen in his projected image, when he started having kids, and also his involvement with Tenacious D. He was suddenly a ‘nice, funny’ guy rather than the rocker who cheated and took drugs/drank/partied etc.

My husband is going to be so gleeful that I will now have to take Dave down from his ‘perfect man’ pedestal

Can’t believe his wife is staying with him, she should take the money and love her best life. Suck eggs to the 55 year old having a newborn too.

He was always a 'what happens on tour stays on tour' type of guy (as was Taylor). This time it didn't stay on tour. It was only a matter of time.

The 'nicest guy in Rock' moniker never meant he was the best husband, but that he is approachable and nice to fans and (most) other musicians.

Maybe a little too friendly and approachable to his baby mama

I’m willing to bet the mother of the new baby was/is a fan he met on tour after a show. She’ll be significantly younger too. 🙄

I remember this shift too.
i am 35 so was a kid when Cobain killed himself. But grew up a fan and then onto Foo’s. I distinctly remember Grohl and Novoselic being still tauted as bad boys of rock post-Nirvana. Then Foo’s hit mainstream more than ever with One by One and suddenly he was the good guy of rock and couldn’t be more highly thought of. It was sudden and definitrly a shift that came when he came back to the mainstream.
his book pretty much gives this idealised revisionist version of his reputation. He also clearly had a profound issue with drink.
I hope everyone involved is OK. But I doubt Jordyn was oblivious to his reputation and propensity towards infedelity. She was a fan too afterall! I think the only ones shocked are the ones that bought the media shift and don’t recall how obvious that was.
What an idiot. Just get the snip at least?
