Dave Grohl

I remember this shift too.
i am 35 so was a kid when Cobain killed himself. But grew up a fan and then onto Foo’s. I distinctly remember Grohl and Novoselic being still tauted as bad boys of rock post-Nirvana. Then Foo’s hit mainstream more than ever with One by One and suddenly he was the good guy of rock and couldn’t be more highly thought of. It was sudden and definitrly a shift that came when he came back to the mainstream.
his book pretty much gives this idealised revisionist version of his reputation. He also clearly had a profound issue with drink.
I hope everyone involved is OK. But I doubt Jordyn was oblivious to his reputation and propensity towards infedelity. She was a fan too afterall! I think the only ones shocked are the ones that bought the media shift and don’t recall how obvious that was.
What an idiot. Just get the snip at least?
I'm a new fan, I like the Foo's music but really it was Dave's interviews and personality probably 10 years ago that brought me to the music. I'm 45 but was never into Nirvana or the grunge scene, I wasn't cool enough 😂 So you're completely correct that I have been fully embracing the media good guy image. I even read the book and thought it was good/interesting oh how dim I am!

I never thought too deeply about the nicest person in rock thing, assumed ok to work with, ps and qs, alright with the media, gives respect where it’s due. Charismatic and fun. I did assume booze, good times times and rock n roll but did not think actual douche to the women of his life. Not shocked at all, surprised I guess - there’s a difference.

A lot of chat on the internet seems to think accepting the nice guy thing= infallible idol and therefore SHOCK.Seems like a kinda basic reading of people who enjoyed the Grohl to me, as is the internet’s way.

The mother is someone the family have known for 7 years? So not a random fan?

I think you are part of the majority for sure. The nice guy in rock thing worked extremely well, and I do think it was backed up by being genuinely polite and very supportive of newcomers. But his issues with drink and drugs were as good as deleted from public awareness. And he was such a well-known cheater I can’t be surprised at this!

I do recall there was a Chris Moyles show where Dave Grohl co-hosted the whole thing and he pretty much wooed the entire UK. He was immensely charming and funny. It was such a good show and he spoke of funny stories of his marriage/wedding. That was around the time his mainstream comeback was at peak.

I quite like him really, think he is an idiot though. My best friend is devastated and this has broken his image of his favourite musician :/ he’s let a lot of people down. Eeek.

The version I know is that he saw her at a wine bar, asked her out and she confessed on their date that she is a Nirvana fan (pretty common TBH). I don't think it was a 'picking up a hot fan after a gig' situation. But maybe the story I read years ago was already PR laundered.

He looks like a drinker...is he a sniffer too?
I saw them live this year and thought he looked like an absolute bag of rit. I put it down to the amount of touring and grieving he’s been doing the last year or so. But yeah he’s got a puffy boozers face and neck.

I realise now he was tired from being up all night playing hide the sausage

Fucker, I loved him and really thought he was a nice guy. This was announced yesterday as they knew it would be buried following the Presidential debate.

He says he doesn't do drugs and hasn't since the early 90s. Who knows if that's true. He has commented on his drinking (I can't recall the exact amounts) but before getting up on stage he downs a lot of alcohol. He also drinks on stage too.

He definitely hasn't looked his best sine Taylor/his mum passed and I assumed his drinking had taken an upturn resulting in the dishelved/puffy face look.

Oh god, please don't be that cliché Dave. As if it isn't bad enough.
I’ll not be surprised if it is the nanny. This happens a lot (not the resulting baby but affairs/dalliances) in these sorts of jobs for high profile types/high net worth and they are bound with strict NDAs of course- making it appear far less risky for them to conduct a sexual relationship than it would be with someone else.

Completely not shocked by the news, will never profess to be a huge fan (although The Colour and The Shape is a wonderful album) but at the end of the day, he's a rock star and completely full of ego.

I remember watching a documentary about the band a few years ago and he came across as so controlling and self important that I kind of lost any good feeling I had towards him.

or the Nannie? His youngest is under 10 isn’t she?
Ophelia is 10 and this person has been in their life since 2017, could be :(

other blind items that said this "Muse" was always around him on tour, it was blatantly obvious etc.

Dave also talks about bringing his daughters on the road with him.A nanny is someone you can bring on the road with you.

It’s a huge power imbalance if it was the nanny. But it happens so often - just look at Jude Law, Arnold Schwartsnegger (not how you spell but you know what I mean) etc. Usually younger than the wife, spending a lot of time with the family - often living in family home. Nanny will see the lifestyle and want a piece for herself. She’ll be set for life, now she’s got a kid by a rock star. Takes two to tango, but I just hope that he’s not taken advantage of someone on top of everything else.
