So the initial report said he was caught in Chiswick but now sky is saying it’s greenford. And I’ve also seen somewhere else that it’s northholt. Where was he??
Yes they initially reported Chiswick but it was Northolt. Greenford is just the other side of the canal.

I can’t lie I was buzzing for the Netflix drama that was going to unfold from this but ‘man escaped prison under lorry and is found 10 miles away’ isn’t great.
I think there’s more to the story than we’re hearing but if he was a lower level guy in the army then how much information would he really have access to? I think working in the MOD you’d need to have the highest level of security clearance to have access to any useful information and then you’d be interviewed regarding connections to other countries etc…

I wonder if his trial will be one of them with live updates. I’d be quite interested to see what he’s actually done in more detail

Who else thinks that given how far he got that his escape wasn’t as dramatic as made out either? Rather than hanging on to the underside of a lorry, someone probably left the kitchen door on the latch. Paddington made it further than this kid and he had to rely on a hot air balloon!

I have to give him credit for having his Waitrose groceries in a proper cool bag when he was arrested, can’t be too careful in this heat, if you eat a gone off sausage roll it’s going undo all your escape plans!

I think he just wanted some nice hummus and some kettle chips and had no real plans beyond that.

Surely you would need some knowledge about the lorry and its route though? You would want enough time to roll our safely and not be squashed so you would surely want to be fairly confident you knew when the next delivery was or that the driver was going to stop for long enough to make sure you were clear?

the Waitrose cool bag was a lovely touch!
I was on the thread earlier and I thought this stuff about him being highly trained was balls. I was wondering if he was framed, but looking at his little sunshine picnic and bike ride he probably framed himself.
nice work by the copper knocking him off a bike.

On the radio this afternoon some legal “expert” said his trial will now be delayed until next year as his solicitor will claim he can’t be tried fairly right now due to the publicity. If this is true then he has a long time in Belmarsh waiting to see if he is found guilty of spying. Presumably being found guilty of Absconding is a dead cert.

Looks as though he thought about escaping but not what to do next. Surely he'd need money and connections to support him and get out of the country - maybe he didn't think his escape would be so high profile?
He just acted like your average 21yo, not much preparation or planning, he seems to be more fantasist than international terrorist, which is a good thing but he's one to watch.

I wonder how he managed to buy food. I know nothing about prison life but I assume they surrender cards and cash when imprisoned?

He defo wouldn’t have used his own cards. I bet they’d be tracking that tit as priority number 1!

I hope he used his MyWaitrose loyalty card. He could have got a free coffee if he brought his own reuseable cup.

This takes hiding in plain sight to a new dimension. He definitely deserves a place in Celeb Big Brother when he gets out.

You get an allowance in prison but unsure if that's given in cash or some sort of special prison swipe card. I'd expect he saved cash if thats the case, or had help.

No-one in Waitrose suspected him either

When he was first caught and they said he was found with a sleeping bag, we thought he must have nicked that from Millets which got us talking about what you would steal if you were on the run, I suggested a dog, that way people would be too busy looking at/fussing over your hound to look closely at you.

Then I remembered all the keyboard warriors when a dog even goes walkabout, he would have been found much sooner if he had been found wandering the streets with Barney the stolen cockapoo.

The cops identified a safe house they believed he was at. I suspect he got the clothes, sleeping bag etc from them and they nipped down to Richmond Waitrose for him, maybe he went along as well to get his supplies in case they missed something he wanted.

Oh, you'd want to go with, wouldn't you? A trip round an air conditioned Waitrose after being in prison? Beautiful!

Oh yeah, don't doubt that. Drugs, telecoms, all sorts of stuff happening that shouldn't be. The system definitely needs looking at rather than crying about it every now and again..
I’ve worked in prisons for 12 years and I can assure you it’s not just female members of staff who are corrupt.
