What's the reporting like in Iran?
I'm going to hazard a guess that it's probably not terribly reliable. I think the main channels are state owned so anything that doesn't suit their narrative will likely be censored. What's the reporting like in Iran?
Yeah I saw that too, he said he could've easily marked someone as present when they had actually escaped. It's quite scary. They keep talking about low staffing which contributed to him escaping but I don't see how they will get people to work in prisons. There needs to be a complete overhaul but it's impossible. I wouldn't want to work with violent people with not a lot of pay.Apparently something like 80% of those charged with acts of terrorism are held in Wandsworth which is crazy. That's what I heard today - can't remember if it was on the radio or Sky news though.
ETA
There was a guy on Sky News yesterday who was a former inmate who said they were so short staffed that one of his jobs as an inmate was to take morning register on his wing!
I know inmates often have jobs to do inside in the kitchens or laundry or whatever but having the inmates taking register seems absolutely insane.
Yeah, apparently the old school prison guards were gotten rid of because they were deemed too expensive by the government, despite the fact they were far more effective. They were replaced with teenagers (no exaggeration) who did reduced training as by that time the need for boots on the ground was desperate.Yeah I saw that too, he said he could've easily marked someone as present when they had actually escaped. Oh honestly, you'd think they'd have learned! This makes me so cross.Telegraph says someone escaped from Wandsworth in 2019 in a similar manner (recaptured shortly after though).

Iranian?Twitter thinks he's at the embassy. I know its twitter but seems logical.
The name and appearance suggests some heritage from that part of the world, and Iran in particular are unlikely to trust anyone who doesn’t have a specific link to Iran beforehand.I've read some people state he has Iranian heritage. Has this been confirmed anywhere as fact? Or is it purely because he's suspected of spying for Iran?
Yeah. They're saying its not far. Diplomatic relationships are strained....?The SAS guy was saying that he would likely stay low for few weeks before trying to leave the country.

Iranian?
I’ve just seen that as well!Twitter thinks he's at the embassy. I know its twitter but seems logical.
His name seems to indicate Arabic rather than Iranian heritage. I wonder if he was caught in a sting operation where he was trying to sell to a high bidder and "Iran" was a taker rather than any direct link with Iran? Pure speculation on my part though, it goes without saying. But very interesting points throughout this thread. The name and appearance suggests some heritage from that part of the world, and Iran in particular are unlikely to trust anyone who doesn’t have a specific link to Iran beforehand.
3.5 miles from the roundabout where he was seen, 6’2 young man could run that in 20 minutes or picked up close by and zipped over the bridge. As you say, twitter, but possible.Yeah. They're saying its not far. Diplomatic relationships are strained....?
Yeah, that would make a lot of sense! The coverage I saw suggested that if he approached Iran without a link then they’d be more inclined to think he was a double agent of some sort but I suppose it hasn’t said anywhere that he got anywhere with spying for them, maybe he was just trying to sell info to them. His name seems to indicate Arabic rather than Iranian heritage. If there's any truth in it, that'll be the embassy expelled. Think that was on the cards anyway.3.5 miles from the roundabout where he was seen, 6’2 young man could run that in 20 minutes or picked up close by and zipped over the bridge. As you say, twitter, but possible.

Send the SAS in … let’s get them abseiling down the sides of the embassy!Twitter thinks he's at the embassy. I know its twitter but seems logical.
I’m sure they know a lot more than they’re saying … well - one hopes they do.Surely the police must have a trail of cctv footage of him after he rolled out from the truck? Maybe they just aren’t releasing that info to the public yet?
